• Purpose: To reach conclusions regarding the way forward for Rotary wheelchair donation projects

• After 2 days of discussion, delegates concluded (amongst a long list):– The WHO Guidelines are an important tool – and
should be used to guide all stakeholders in issues related to wheelchair provision;
– Donated wheelchairs should be ‘appropriate’– Prior to the donation of wheelchairs, there should be
consultation between the stakeholders (including: user representatives, service providers and the donor organisation) to determine whether the wheelchairs are appropriate and service delivery systems are in place.
