ST. CHRISTOPHERNEW MEMBERS FOR PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL, EVANGELIZATION/CATECHESIS COMMISSION ANDWORSHIP COMMISSIONOn March 18, we selected new members to serve on Pastoral Council, Evangelization/Catechesis Commission and Worship Commission. Parishioners submitted nominations for 84 different candidates, with some individuals nominated for more than one position.
For PPC alone, we had 52 people nominated, with 20 of those agreeing to serve if called upon to do so. We are truly blessed with so many parishioners who were willing to serve St. John the Baptist. These candidates had their names placed in a hat, and a random drawing was conducted to select new members.
For Parish Pastoral Council, Josh Doseck and Randy Hoyng will be coming on board with the April meeting, and will serve through the May meeting in 2023. Jim Van Oss is the alternate. Phil Borger and Craig Pleiman will be joining PPC with the September meeting, and will serve a three-year term, ending with the May 2024 meeting. The alternate is Sam Robinson.
For ECC, the new members are Sally Beam and Alyssa Morris, who will start with the April meeting and serve through the April meeting in 2023. Joy Doviak is the alternate.
New members for the Worship Commission are Teresa Haller & Carmella Lammers, who will start three-year terms this September, culminating with the May 2024 meeting. Donna Hoyng is the alternate.
On behalf of the entire parish, we would like to thank those who submitted nominations and especially thank those who were willing to serve our parish. God bless all of you!

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 18, 2021
GOD MOMENTS
SCRIPTURE IS LIKEThere have been other “God Moments” around Ascension Press’ Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz. Today as I was listening, God gave me a real “Ah-ha” moment that I
wanted to share. It was that Scripture is like a flashlight, a mirror and sandpaper. It is like a flashlight as it shines the light of truth into the dark recesses and helps me to see God’s action in our world today, and to see those things that I would otherwise miss. It is like a mirror as it reflects my life back to me, both the good and the bad, so that I am better able to live a wholesome life as God intends. It is like sandpaper as it smooths the rough edges off, both of me and of my experiences. It was also noted that a healthy Christian Community embodies the same qualities by being the Light, the Mirror and Sandpaper. Thank you for being my Community and walking this journey of faith with me!
I believe almost any moment can be a God moment. For me, it includes two things, ATTENTION and INTENTION. Regardless of whether I am baking a cake, cutting the grass, doing my job,
playing with children, whatever. What is my intention; is it to become closer to God and do God's will? Do I pay attention to what God is saying to me in the moment? What are your God moments? I believe I can find them all day, every day, if I am open to finding God and doing God's will in the ordinary events of my everyday life.
CATHOLIC UPDATE for April features; LEARNING TO SEE through the EYES OF MERCY by Bernie Ronan, Ph.D. “The
day Jesus of Nazareth walked into the tax collector’s den and called Matthew was a compelling moment.” “Jesus saw the tax collector in a way that expressed both mercy and selection and said to him, ‘Follow me.’” There is a lot in this month’s update that speaks to our current life situation – viewing the world with Mercy and being an agent of Mercy is needed now more than ever! Grab a copy of this month’s Update for more information. If you would like copies of past Catholic Update, please contact Deacon Chuck Wright at the Parish Office.
SPIRITUAL
If I could speak the truthI have not written all of my feelings in words but mostly in the flesh of my actionsYou can read the recesses of my heart by the reflections of how I have livedWhat would my heart say if my God were to unlock the sentinels of my tongueWould I profess my feelings and be animated, as if a court jester
Or would I have a steady stream of nonsense, sounding like the cadence of an auctioneerWould my mind twist the feelings into words, reshaping their meanings to fit the times Or would they be witness to what I truly believe deep inside my very bonesWould these words be fanned by a tempting flame to win my inmost desiresOr would these words be the signature of my soul and a reflection of its final homeHelp me, Lord, to understand how I should live my life by guarding my unspoken thoughtsAs You are revealed to me each day, as I feel my emotions are forever lost

Did You Know? That the blue Pinwheel is the national symbol of child abuse prevention efforts. It represents the innocence, joy and fun which should be the experience of all children. As a community of faith, it is important for us to do our part to assure that children, and all vulnerable members of society,
are protected and can enjoy the dignity of life they are due. Consider making a blue pinwheel to display in your home and make a commitment today to protect our children from harm!
