• Surat – The synthetic capital of India hosts over 45,000 power looms and provides over 0. 7 million jobs.

• It contributes 18% to the total man made fibre exports and 40% of man made fabric production in India

• Surat has been very successful in attracting a sizeable amount of FDI in various sectors like energy, oil, and petroleum. A significant investment of (USD 726 million) in Hazira LNG terminal project is one of the largest greenfield FDIs in India

• However a structured approach needs to be developed for the same by the stakeholders of the textile industry in Surat.

- Non availability/increasing cost of labour - Cost of energy/gas - Issues of pollution control with legislations getting stronger.

• Digital Textile Printing if adopted well will help to reduce some the issues which the industries are/will face.
