WOMEN WHO CHANGED THE WORLD
1. MARIA SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE
Maria Skłodowska-Curie was one of women, who changed the world’s history. She was a very famous polish scientist’s.
She discovered the phenomenon of radioactivity, which initiated research on the
treatment of cancer. She also discovered two new elements- polonium and radium.
Maria Skłodowska-Curie was the only human, who received the Noble Prize twice. First time in 1903 with her husband Pierre
Curie and Henri Becquerel in Physic, second in 1911 in Chemistry. Interestingly, she was the first women with the Nobel Prize in that
field.
2. AMELIA EARHART
Amelia Earhart was a very brave and intelligent
woman-pilot. She was the first American woman who
in 1928 flew over the Atlantic and the first
human, who has made it only alone. She didn't know
what dread and fear of heights are.
3.COCO CHANEL
Coco Chanel was and is the icon of elagance and feminity. She created
a own fashion brand, which has known in all of the world. She made
a cult little black dress and pearl necklace. Coco Chanel also
"allowed" women to wear pants, because then they were reserved
for men.
4.EMILIA PLATER
Emilia Plater was polish hero in Nevember Uprising. She wanted to fight for her homeland to regain independence
of Poland. She was a women, so she couldn't go to war. But it wasn't any
problem for her. Emilia Plater cut off short her hair and she told to sew her male
uniform. Shortly after that she became a captain of army. Emilia Plater is a symbol
of brave and the strenght of women.
5.MALALA YOUSAFZAI
Pakistani teenager has become a symbol of the fight for children's rights and women's
right to education in the Islamic countries. In October 2012 Malala was attacked by the Taliban on the way back from school. She survived gunshot wounds in the head and
neck. For her actions in favor of women,she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
