PROGRAM OVERV I EW
Young Artists Workshop students explore their creativity in a beautiful campus setting surrounded by museums including The Barnes Foundation and Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The program, founded in 1921, maintains a rich legacy of offering high-quality art and design educational experiences that are both fun and inspiring for youth and high school students in grades 3–12.
All classes are studio based in Moore’s BFA classrooms and labs – unique, modern facilities with state of the art equipment and technology.
YOUNG ARTISTS WORKSHOP
HIGH SCHOOL
Young artists in High School Classes become part of a community dedicated to developing interests and abilities in a collaborative and exuberant atmosphere. In addition to building a foundation of creative and technical skills, courses foster the development of imagination, self-confidence, and individual style.
GRADES 6–8
Young artists in Classes for Grades 6–8 experience a joyous investigation into a wide range of visual art materials, techniques and ideas. Courses foster a broad understanding of the art and design process and provide a springboard for creative thinking and artmaking.
GRADES 3–5
Young artists in Classes for Grades 3–5 explore diverse ways of making art through activities that strengthen creative abilities and allow for unique ideas to blossom. Courses foster an understanding of basic art concepts and familiarity with a wide range of art tools and materials.

The foundation of the creative fashion design process is pattern drafting and garment constructions. In this course you will learn how to draft and adjust basic sloper patterns, fit muslin or toile and choose the right fabric for your garment. Colorful and easy to work with, polymer clay is an ideal material for sculpting figures and faces. In this character design sculpting course, students pull and push the plastic material and cure it with low-temperature baking that allows for painting or more complicated assembly. MIXED MEDIA ART, 3rd–5thAugust 6 – August 10 / 9 am – 4 pm / Course Code: YFA099 / Tuition $530
This course takes students from drawing to sculpture and everything in between. Students explore interactions of 2D and 3D design, experiment with simple mold making techniques, and use mono prints, construction, drawing, and painting to create unique multi-media works. This class focuses on the principles of composition (balance, shape, color, rhythm) and the process of design through making. PROGRAM and REGISTRATION INFORMATIONWEEKLY SESSION FORMATOur program format allows for flexible weekly course options for busy summer schedules. You can enroll for one week or any combination of weeks.
5-WEEK TRACKSRegistering for a five-week track provides the opportunity to experience a rich selection of courses while enjoying substantial savings over individual course registrations. Tracks are offered for all grade levels. See pages 2–3 for details.
CLASSESAll classes are studio based and held in Moore’s BFA class spaces. Students should plan to arrive approximately 15–20 minutes before the start of class on the first day.
REGISTER EARLYClass size is kept to an approximate maximum of 20 students. Courses may fill quickly so please register early to guarantee availability. Registrations are processed on first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation of registration is emailed after receipt of registration.
REGISTERING IS EASYPayments are accepted by check, money order, Visa or MasterCard. Checks and money orders should be made payable to Moore College of Art & Design. Cash payments may be made in person Monday-Friday 9 am – 5 pm. Partial payments cannot be accepted.
YAW AUTHORIZATION FORMThe YAW Authorization Form must be submitted prior to the first day of class or the student will not be allowed to attend class. This form will be emailed with the registration confirmation and may also be submitted through the website.
TUITION INFORMATIONIndividual Course Tuition is $475 or $530 per week as listed with each course.
Five-Week Track Tuition is $2,120 a savings of $255–$530. The five-week discounted rate is available only when registrations for all five courses are paid in full at the same time and without any additional discounts.

CLASS CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS Moore College of Art & Design reserves the right to cancel courses, alter its curriculum, change instructors or modify tuition and fees for its programs. Portions of this publication are subject to change without notice. Courses that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled and notification of such will be by phone and/or email. All fees and tuition will be refunded within 2 to 4 weeks for any cancelled class.
TUITION REFUND & WITHDRAWAL POLICYWritten notification of withdrawals or course changes must be submitted to the Office of Continuing Education via email to [email protected] or fax 215.965.4047. Tuition refunds are not given if a student does not withdraw in writing from the course. Tuition refunds are calculated according to the following schedule:
100% tuition refund minus $55 withdrawal fee before the first day of class 80% tuition refund minus $55 withdrawal fee before the second day of class 50% tuition refund minus $55 withdrawal fee before the third day of class No refunds after the third class
Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for your tuition refund to be processed.
FACULTYMoore’s BFA faculty, certified art educators, and practicing artists and designers teach in Young Artists Workshop. They are all dedicated and enthusiastic professionals with a professional expertise in art and education.
FAMILY & FRIENDS FRIDAYParents, guardians and friends are invited from 3 pm – 4 pm on Fridays to meet faculty, visit classes and participate in art activities. A great opportunity to celebrate student artwork!
ART SUPPLIES Art supplies are provided to students in courses for grades 3 – 8. Students in courses for grades 9 –12 are required to purchase supplies. The cost of supplies for high school classes is approximately $25 - $50. Supply lists for each class will be posted on the website a week before classes begin.
CODE OF CONDUCTStudents are expected to follow general behavior rules of being respectful of each other, the instructor and staff, as well as the College facility. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and Moore reserves the right to dismiss students from class. Students dismissed from the program do not receive refunds.
CAMPUS LOCATIONMoore’s vibrant Center City Philadelphia campus is located just off Logan Square on Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Many classes take advantage of Moore’s location by including off-site trips to arts and cultural attractions at no additional cost.
STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK-UPStudents can be dropped off in front of the College’s main entrance on Race Street between 19th and 20th Streets where they will be greeted by staff. Students are dismissed from class and are instructed to wait in the College main lobby for pick-up.
