Each year the Diocese of Pittsburgh recognizes the crowning achievement of those couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary
with a Mass presided by Bishop Zubik at St. Paul’s Cathedral, followed by a light reception. The celebration Mass will occur on November 17, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. If you and your spouse are celebrating your 50th anniversary this year and would like to participate, please RSVP by Wed., Oct.23, by contacting our parish office. Couples are welcome to bring as many loved ones to the celebration as they wish.
The Respect Life committee is sponsoring a poster/essay contest for the parish youth - from preschool to 8th grade. The theme revolves around thanking God for the LIFE of someone who is special to them, and WHY they are special to them. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be selected from three different age groups: pre-K to 2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grades. All of our parish youth are invited to participate. Copies of the entrance forms will be available on the parish website and in the back of churches. The contest will run between Sun., Oct. 20 to Sun., Nov. 3. Please return entries to parish offices.
Our grouping is observing Priesthood Sunday next weekend. We'll have prayer cards in the back of church that you can use to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.
Our next baptism class is Tue., Nov. 19, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Alphonsus Parish Hall. This class is open to any parishioners in our six-parish grouping who are having their first child

The Christmas Light Up Celebration is marking its 26th
year in the community this year. The Light Up is in need of
volunteers. Work to be done includes: light bulb inspections, tree trimming, light display set
up, and greeters during the evenings once the Light Up starts
(late Nov. - early Jan.). Volunteers are needed each Sat. from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. No
need to register as volunteer, you can simply go to Clinton Park and

We’ll be back around 3:00 p.m. Please bring with you donations such as sleeping bags, hats, scarves, gloves, non-perishable snacks, hygiene wipes, blankets, & diapers. All participants must register with St. Columbkille by Thur., Oct. 24. Anyone under 18 must bring with them a permission slip that can be found on the parish website. We will be carpooling, so drivers are needed. When you register, please indicate if you’d be willing to drive.
Senior Citizens will meet Wed., Nov. 6, 2019, at Noon for our Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, salad, roll, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.
