July 15th, 2018 Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
GO FORTH IN BOLD CONFIDENCE
In this Sunday's Gospel passage, Jesus teaches us about trust. If we're to fulfill our calling as God's mis-sionaries of love in this world, if we're to fulfill our calling to share the Good News, we must trust God and the resources that he provides. And we must trust that he will always provide exactly what we need when we need it, even though it doesn't always seem sufficient. It's important that we don't feed the inclination to distrust him by expecting anything other than what he provides. Every Mass ends with a re-commissioning rite for the calling we all have. The final blessing is a sending forth after we've been renewed in our relationship with Jesus. His presence in the Word and in the Eu-charist and in the Church community re-energizes us (when we pay attention) to boldly go and do all that he asks of us. Through the priest, Jesus sends us into the world to be the visible proof that he is real and that he's alive and that he cares. With Jesus, and in him and through him, we are all evangelizers who can make a difference in the world. Yes, all of us -- all of us who have participated in the Eucharistic celebration with conscious awareness of what we are saying and praying and receiving during Mass. Go forth in bold confidence! Jesus is sending you out from the church with his Spirit and his suffi-ciency. However, when we do the packing and decide what to take with us on the mission, we like to take an abundance of stuff, just in case we might need it. Thus, we fail to show others that God is reliable and trustworthy. To be effective evangelizers, we have to surrender over to God whatever baggage interferes with our mission. Remember this: Surrender is not truly surrender un-less we no longer want what we surrendered. If we still have some desire for it, we're attached to it by a bungee cord that yanks us back to it, yanking us away from our true purpose in life. © 2018 Terry Modica, Catholic Digital Resources, www.catholicdr.com. 50th Anniversary of Humanae Vitae/Natural Family Planning
Awareness Week
Not Your Mom’s NFP by Kait Mayer
The Department of Evangelization and Family Life invites all married and engaged couples, parish leaders and parents of youth and young adults to join us for an encore presentation of the myth-busting, eye-opening event on the many surprising elements of Natural Family Planning, first presented by Kait at the 2015 diocesan Marriage Summit.
Please reserve your spot for this important, fasci-nating free event in celebration of National Natural Family Planning Awareness Week.
Monday, July 23rd, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, St. Benedict Parish, Holmdel. To register: call Jossie Ramos, 609-403-7151 or go to www.dioceseoftrenton.org/nfp-awareness.
Isn’t Natural Family Planning only for women with “regular” cycles? - No!
Natural Family Planning (NFP) does NOT depend on a woman having regular menstrual cycles! NFP treats each woman and each cycle as unique. These methods rely on daily observations of the woman's signs of fertility. NFP works with menstrual cycles of any length, any degree of irregularity, during breastfeeding, just before menopause, and in other special circumstances. NFP allows a woman to understand the physical signals her body gives her to tell her when she is most likely to become pregnant (around the time of ovulation). Once the woman understands this information, she and her husband can use the information according to their family planning intentions (i.e., to either achieve or postpone pregnancy). She is also able to better understand her own basic gynecologic health! Instruction in NFP provides women with information about their bodies that is specific and observable and can be used throughout a woman's reproductive life. When special circumstances occur, (e.g., stress, illness, breastfeeding, post-miscarriage, peri-menopause, etc.), NFP instructors can provide additional guidance in interpreting signs of fertility. Next Sunday, July 22, starts National Natural family Planning Awareness week! — Look for information and displays in our gathering space to learn more! For information about Natural Family Planning education in our area, contact Peg Hensler 609-403-7156 or [email protected].
ST. PIUS X BLOOD DRIVE
JULY 22nd St. Pius X Church is holding a Blood Drive on July 22nd from 7:30am to 2:00pm. In 2017, our Church parishioners donated 50 units of blood.
Our goal for this year is 60 units and we need everyone’s help to reach our goal. Please encourage family and friends to donate and save a life. The process takes approximately 1 hour from start to finish and just 1 unit of blood can save as many as 3
lives. Pope Francis describes the act of organ and blood donation as a “Testimony of love for our neighbor”.
Registration is encouraged and available online.
To schedule a time, go to www.cjbcblood.org, Donate Now, View upcoming Blood Drives, En-ter Zip code (08731) and date (July 22nd, 2018). Walk-ins are Welcome! Please visit our web page
at churchofstpius.org/parish-nursing for more infor-
mation on Blood Donation and frequently asked
questions and facts.
