Getting approved for a VA

Loan and VA IRRRL

First you will need your VA Certificate of

Eligibility (COE). You can get your VA COE

online at VA.GOV website or your lender can

help you obtain your COE. The next step is to

speak with a VA approved lender who can

get you pre-approved.

If you’re using the VA IRRRL

to refinance a current VA

home loan you won’t need

your COE again.

Even if you’re currently behind on your

existing VA mortgage it is still possible for you

to refinance with the VA IRRRL. You may need

to receive a pre-approval from the VA, but it’s

still an option. Any late payments, charges, or

other costs could be added to the loan. You must

also provide proof of your income.
