The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014 (SGMA) requires public agencies that havewater supply, water management, and/or land use responsibilities within a groundwater basin tomanage and regulate the underlying groundwater in a sustainable manner, and that these local publicagencies form Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) by June 30, 2017 for this purpose. TheNorth Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency Joint Powers Authority (NKGSA) is planned to be oneof 6 GSAs in the Kings Subbasin, as defined by the Department of Water Resources Bulletin 118. TheNKGSA consists of the following members: County of Fresno, Fresno Irrigation District, Garfield WaterDistrict, International Water District, City of Fresno, City of Clovis, City of Kerman, Biola CommunityServices District, CA State University Fresno, & Bakman Water District.
