They named him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:5)
At this time of the year throughout the world you can walk
into most card stores and buy an Advent calendar which al-lows you to count off the days of waiting and praying for Je-
sus’ Coming --- which is what Advent means. For young chil-dren opening the windows on the calendar is exciting, as they
realize that with each new window opening the joy of Christ-mas Day draws nearer. We know that on some of the advent
calendars though, opening the windows uncover Santa, deco-
rated trees or gifts that one may want to buy or receive. These calendars reveal nothing about the true Christmas message –
the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Also at this time of year, while watching television, whether it
be the Eagles (if you can bring yourself to do so), Shark Tank, or Jeopardy, we experience the constant reminders of how
many shopping days are left for us to complete our gift pur-chases. The advertising media will offer us a multitude of ide-
as for purchasing the perfect gift for the important people in our lives. Again, more often than not, the true meaning of
Christmas is forgotten or lost.
We, as faith-filled people can become discouraged by Advent
calendars, television commercials, or advertisements that lack mention of whom we truly prepare during this season. How-
ever, I’d like to suggest that we not be discouraged, but rather
propose, for a moment, that we take these advertisements as a
call to pray rather than to purchase. To pray for ourselves,
our loved-ones, our friends, neighbors, parish, city, country and world that each of us may put ourselves in the mind of
Mary and Joseph, focused on the expected baby, wondering what He will be like and how He will affect our lives.
As we begin this beautiful season of Advent, we wait and pray for Jesus’ Coming. Let us be vigilant in our quest to draw ever-
closer to the child Jesus. May we recognize, even in the com-mercialization of this season, the opportunity to pray and al-
low the events of Jesus’ birth to change our lives.
May the opening of hearts in prayer this Advent lead us to cel-
ebrate Him who is Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever and Prince of Peace.
God Bless You,
Father Redcay

Prayer for Jubilee Year of Mercy Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Father’s mercy for us. In mercy, you freed Zaccheus and Matthew from greed. In mercy, you freed Peter from dishonesty and cowardice. In mercy, you promised heaven to the good thief. In mercy, you gave weakness to your ministers so we can come to you easily in them.
Draw us close to you, Jesus, and shine your mercy on our sins. Like the woman who washed your feet with her own tears, make us love more than ever because you forgive us. Amen.
NOVEMBER 29, 2015! S !
Pope Francis has declared an Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy.
This Jubilee of Mercy is a time in which we can be transformed by the merciful gaze of God upon us; and a time in which we can respond by sharing that compassion and love with others.
On Sunday, December 13th we will open the Jubilee Year of Mercy at the 10:30 Mass.
John Angotti and St. Patrick Parish Choirs
Present an Advent/Christmas Concert
Saturday, December 12th at 7:30PM
in the Church
John's message is clear: There is
hope, healing, and truth with the love of God. His music expresses
hope and love for those longing
for a deeper relationship with
God. "My passion is to not only
provide music for worship, but
music that sings of the true witness of my experience of Christ in my life, that leads me to
the table in faith. I have found that people relate
through both music and testimony. All of us have
a cross, even though we may try to hide it. But
there is no hiding place from God, who is with us all the time."
John’s music delivers a dynamic blend of
contemporary styles and meaningful lyrics,
leading him to be granted awards for "Male
Vocalist of the Year," "Pop/Contemporary Album
of the Year" and "Praise and Worship Album of the Year," in addition to much critical acclaim.
His writing style includes contemporary rock,
pop, and Latin rhythms, and his compositions
give new life to traditional pieces from chant and
classical genres.
Tickets are available after all Masses and in the Parish Office.

Safe Environment Training In an effort to ensure that all of our volunteers who assist with the children of our parish are in compliance, we will offer this Safe Environment Sessions at
St. Patrick Parish ~ Monday, November 30th Participants must arrive at the Parish Center by 6:30PM and must remain for the entire
session (2.5 hours). We are in the process of securing a date for a Saturday
morning or Sunday afternoon session. Sign up at www.virtus.org.
The first Sunday of Advent begins the preparations for Jesus's birth at Christmas. Advent is a time of joyful hope. The word Advent comes from the Latin word that means "coming". The seasonal liturgy offers us as a symbol the Advent wreath with its four candles, signifying the four weeks of preparation for Christmas. The Sunday readings of the season propose to us some models of hope and faith to reflect on: the Virgin Mary, her cousin Elizabeth, John the Baptist, and even the people of Israel. And the whole Church sings with joy while waiting: "O come, o come Emmanuel," God-with-us.
