1 Initial Greetings
1.1 President of the European Karate Federation
The Karate family is looking forward to the event in which Europe’s future stars of the sport
take the stage to show the showmanship and the impact of our modality in young ages. We
all are very pleased to visit Sochi for the 45th European Junior & Cadet and 10th U21
Championships and we are confident that the anticipated tournament is set to be a
resounding success.
I want to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to the Russian Karate Federation and
its President Serguey Tsoy for their hard work and courage to host one of the most relevant
events of the year in European Karate. Their support and collaboration have been
instrumental over the years and the championships to be held in Sochi from February 2 to 4
will be a demonstration of the influence of Karate in the region.
As Karate’s rising stars will showcase their abilities in Sochi, the progress of our sport will be
further featured in this memorable tournament. I am sure that all the European family will
enjoy an event that will once again display the greatness of our sport.

1.2. President of Russian Karate Federation
On the behalf of Russian Karate Federation and myself I would like to welcome all the
participants, organizers and guests of 45th European KARATE Championships among
Cadet, Junior & U21 which will be held in Sochi from the period of 2 till 4 February 2018!
I am sincerely glad and proud for the inclusion of karate in the Olympic program, and I am
sure that hosting Junior Championships in the Olympic city Sochi will influence the following
development of the karate in the Olympic movement. Our competition in the Olympic Palace
Iceberg will discover new talented names in karate and allow young karatekas feel the real
Olympic spirit!
Our country had already hosted major international karate events – European
Championships in 2004 and European Championships for Regions in 2012 in Moscow,
Premier League in 2013 in Tyumen and I am sure that this European Championships will be
hosted at high organizational level and become actual sport celebration for participants and
spectators!
For many years, Russian Karate Federation have been developing this wonderful sport
among professionals and amateurs as well. Every year Russian karatekas show good
performance at various international competitions, being good rivals for the world karate
leaders!
Karate is a unique sport, which unites countries and nationalities. Karate language is
understandable for everyone – gender, age and religion doesn’t matter.
I wish everyone exciting duels and excellent mood!

2 Sochi
2.1 About Sochi Sochi is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located on the Black Sea coast in the southern part
of Russia. The Greater Sochi area, which includes territories and localities subordinated to
Sochi proper, has a total area of 3,526 square kilometres and sprawls for 145 kilometres (90
mi) ]along the shores of the Black Sea
near the Caucasus Mountains The area of the city proper is 176.77 square kilometres (68.25
sq mi). According to the 2010 Census, the city had a permanent population of 343,334, up
from 328,809 recorded in the 2002 Census, making it Russia's largest resort city. Being part
of the Caucasian Riviera, it is one of the very few places in Russia with a subtropical climate,
with warm to hot summers and mild winters.
With the alpine and Nordic events held at the nearby ski resort of Roza Khutor in Krasnaya
Polyana, Sochi hosted the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in
2014, as well as the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix from 2014 until at least 2020. It will also
be one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Sochi is unique among larger Russian cities as having some aspects of a subtropical resort.
Apart from the scenic Caucasus Mountains, pebble and sand beaches, the city with its
numerous and Stalinist architecture. About two million people visit Greater Sochi each
summer, when the city is home to the annual film festival "Kinotavr" and a getaway for
Russia's elite.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 2,957 square kilometers (731,000 acres) Caucasian
Biosphere Reserve, lies just north from the city.
3 How to get to the Championship
3.1 Flight
Sochi’s international airport now handles dozens of domestic and international flights daily.
Moscow, Krasnodar, and St.-Petersburg are the main transfer points to Sochi.
There are also direct international flights to Sochi from Yerevan, Tashkent and Istanbul.
Flights from Europe are operated with stop in Moscow. One may reach Sochi City Center
from the airport terminal (28 km) by bus, train, or taxi.

4 Accommodation
4.1 Hotels

Located less than a 20-minute walk from the Olympic Park in Sochi, Imeretinskiy Hotel
features a number of amenities to ensure that guests have a relaxing stay, including an

4.1.3 Imeretinskiy Accomodation – EKF Village

Organizing Committee of the 45 Cadets, Juniors, 10th U21 European Championships offers
a great opportunity for the official delegations, sportsmen and coaches to be accommodated
in the EKF Village near HQ Hotel Imeretinsky.
Being accommodated in the Apart Hotel Imeretinsky Pribrezhniy Kvartal you will become a
part of great sport karate event in Sochi and feel the everyday atmosphere of the sport
celebration and competitions.
This hotel is located in a 5-minute walk from the Black Sea beach in Adler, features outdoor swimming pool. Free WiFi is available on site. There is also a health center on site.
The rooms are very spacious and offer a balcony with a wonderful view, air conditioning,
seating area, hairdryer and flat-screen TV.
Guests can dine in the on-site restaurant, or eat out in the cafes and restaurants nearby.
Free parking is located within a 5-minute walk of the hotel. The distance from EKF Village to
Sochi City Center is 5 km.

7.5 Venue: Iceberg Palace
Venue location: Olympic Park, Adler, Krasnodarskii district, 354354
The Iceberg Palace is a 12,000-seat multi-purpose arena at Sochi Olympic Park in Sochi,
Russia. The "Iceberg" was built in 2012 in Sochi, in the coastal cluster of the Imereti lowland.
The building area is about 68 000 m2, the arena of Iceberg Palace is 60x30m2.
The venue hosted the figure skating and short track speed skating events at the 2014 Winter
Olympics.

The Iceberg Palace is a multi-functional arena with a well-developed infrastructure and
professional equipment to create of favourable climate. Arena is easily converted into a
stadium for hosting summer sport events including different single combat competitions.
The Iceberg Palace has developed infrastructure:
- Dressing rooms and showers, rooms for technical specialists and referees brigades
- Rooms for sharpening skates, training and warming-up room
- Equipped press room and mixed zone
- Conference hall and meeting rooms
- Several entrance groups, parking for 1000 cars
Iceberg is equipped with professional sport equipment, which enables to organize efficient
training process and host various national and international competitions.
Iceberg has the equipment for carrying out professional and amateur tournaments on team
spots, all kinds of single combats, table tennis, gymnastics, sport dance, etc.
7.6 Tickets The entrance for spectators is free of charge.

7.7 Training Facilities - Bookings
The OC will provide the National Federations, who submit the relevant applications in due
time, with a place and time for training. The application must be received before 15th
December 2017.
Transportation to the training area will only be available from the official hotels.
Bus shuttle for the trainings in non-official days costs 10 Euro (both ways).

8 Registrations
8.1 Online Registration
8.1.1 General information for all athletes
Online registration can be made from 1st December 2017 until 18th January 2018 under the

8.1.2 Press
Press accreditation can only be given to professional journalists working for a media and
having proof of their credentials.
Media professionals can register to request press accreditations until 19th of January through
the on line registration form which can be found here:

dedicated press tribune.
Accredited photographers will have access to their allocated seats only upon presenting the
accreditation cards given to them during registration. Video recording will not be allowed.
A mixed zone will be available for accredited journalists and photographers.

8.2 Onsite Registration & Accreditations
Registration will be arranged in HQ Hotel on Thursday, 1 February from 09:00 to 15:00 hours
(room “Galeon”).
Each participating country is requested to provide 2 national flags and a CD with the national
Anthem.

9 Additional Information
9.1 VISA
Should you need assistance to obtain Russian entry visa or require a specific letter of
invitation, please contact the OC.
It is therefore strictly recommended to submit to the Russian Karate Federation as soon as
possible, but no later than 15 December 2017, the attached visa application form together
with a readable colour passport copy of good quality for each team member in order to issue
the visa in due time.
The Russian Karate Federation does not guarantee visa obtaining for team members and
team officials if above-mentioned documents will be received later than December 15, 2017.

visa:

There are 14 public hospitals in Sochi, situated along the seaside.
Ambulance and local doctors will be presented at the competition and trainings all the time.
9.10 Insurance In compliance with EKF Rules, it is obligatory for all the participants and members of the participating delegations have their own medical and personal trip insurance. The Russian Karate Federation and European Karate Federation as well as the Organizing Committee assume no liability or responsibility for the lack of insurance from participants and members of the delegations. The head of the delegations have to sign the enclosed terms of responsibility and return it by 15th of December 2017 the latest. Delegations lacking insurance policies could acquire it at the Registration Desk upon the request.
9.11 Communication There are different means of communication are available at Sochi presented by public
transports – buses, cars, taxi, etc.

10 Reservation Forms
10.1 General Information The Russian Karate Federation is responsible for all the reservation in the official hotels.
1. Accommodation reservations should be accompanied with the reservation form.
2. Hotel and Transportation Bookings to be made via:

All payments to the Russian Federation are made in Euros and by Credit Card Visa or
Master Card outside Russia. Please note that once inside Russia, all payments must be
done in russian rublos.

All Reservations should be made until 15th of December.
Delegations are requested to send a precise reservation, specifying the number of rooms
with names to via e-mail to accommodation.euro2018@ruswkf.ru or submitting the
electronic booking form via official website.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 29th 2017 UNTIL JANUARY 10th
2018 IS A PERIOD OF OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS IN RUSSIA AND THE BOOKING SYSTEM
WILL BE IN RESTRICTED MODE.
The Russian Karate Federation will issue and send the invoice to the National Federation.
Preliminary reservation of available hotels should be done up to 15th December 2017. 100 %
payment is requested by the 10th January 2018.
After 10th January 2017, a 10% increase will be imposed on the above prices. However, after
10th of January 2017, the Russian Karate Federation cannot guarantee the availability of any
rooms in the official hotels. For delegations that have paid and then cancelled within 20 days
prior to the event, 25% of the reservation cost will be withheld as cancellation fee and if a
cancellation is made 7 days before the service ordered is due, the participants will be
charged 100% of the service ordered fee.

10.3 Transfer Service Form
The transportation will be arranged according to the number of participants in delegations. In
case you require any extra service, please contact the OC as soon as possible.
Transportation will be organized by taxi, mini bus or bus, depending on the number of
participants on each arrival. Transportation to the hotels will be only offered from Sochi
international airport.
