• They are in management of The
Ministry of Culture.
• And there are other public libraries in
management of munipality.

• Librarians are graduated from
information and records management
departments.
• Faculties up-to-date their
undergraduate curriculum.

• As per the decision of the Higher
Education Council in 2002, the divisions
of Librarianship, Archiving, and
Documentation and Information at the
Departments of Librarianship were
merged and the Department of
Librarianship was renamed as the
"Department of Information and
Records Management" with a new
curriculum.

• Beside, people graduated from
different areas are also working as a
librarian.
• But all of them must attend a
selection exam in order to begin.

• They are in management of The
Ministry of Education.
• According to regulations if the school
library has more than 3000 books,
Ministry of Education staff a librarian
to this library.

• If not, a teacher can work as a
librarian.
• But in most of primary, elementray or
high schools, library club works for
library.

Library Club
• There is a director who is a Turkish
language Teacher, Tecnology or
Classroom teacher.
• Students choose the club voluntarily.
• After the meeting of library club, club
students begin to work in part time
or during the break at the library
voluntarily.

• By this way school library is opened
for students.
• Library clup students give other
students books and record their
names to library notebooks or
computer system.
• Students have timetables, they work
nearly two hours per day or during
breaks.

Daily Schedule
• Morning classes start at 08:00, end at
13:00
• Afternoon classes start at 13:00, end at
18:00
• A full day school starts at 09:00, ends at
15:00

• Students, teachers and parents use
library.
• Library clup teacher catalogs the
resources.
• First to fifth classes, classroom
teacher helps students about studying
in library and organize lessons in
there.

• Sixth to eighth grade Turkish language
teacher guides students about library.
• Students with special educational
needs attend library as other students
do.

Class
• Every classroom has a library, too.
• Class teacher orginize the library.
• Students who are the members of
Library club help teacher.
• Club students give books to their
friends.

• In Turkey there is a Student
Information System.
• Class teachers in Burdur also save the
information about books that student
read (book name, writer, book page
etc.).

• Every school has internet in Turkey.
• And most of them has ICT classes.
• In Burdur city center every class has
one computer and internet
connection.
• Mostly class library promote ITC
literacy.
Library Budget
• School principal working with library
club teacher decides the budgets.
• There are some particular
sponsorship.
• For example, people from city can
give money to create a library (books
and book shelves) in primary schools.

• Sometimes students or teachers
organize book campaigns for school
libraries.
• Civil society organizations are also
collecting books which can be used or
new and then send schools these
books.

• In Turkey Education Superviser
evaluate the library.
• Superviser inspect the documents
that library club teacher prepeared.
• And also check the library books.

• The Turkish Academic Network and
Information Centre (ULAKBIM) is
an institute of The Scientific and
Technological Research Council of
Turkey (TÜBİTAK).

• ULAKBIM’s main objectives have
been set as operating a high speed
computer network enabling
interaction within the institutional
elements of the national innovation
system, and providing information
technology support and information
services to help scientific production.
• National Catalog (TO-KAT) is a
project of Culture Ministry and The
Turkish Academic Network and
Information Centre.
• The main aim of this project is to
gathered all libraries in Turkey in one
digital library system.

• National Catalog was started in 2008.
• Only the libraries which are the
members of National Catalog System
can be searched.
• University and school libraries can be
members of National Catalog.
