and ill-de■gning Men, and forgetting the Alle ianCe which they

owe to the Power that has protected andfu■ained

them, after

,various diforderly Acts committed in Difturbance of the Public

WPeace, to. the Ob■ruétion of lawful Commerce, and to the OP-

" pre■ion of Our loyal Subjects carrying on the fame, have at

length proceeded to an open and avowed Rebellion, by array-

ing themfelves in hoftile Manner to withf’tand the Execution of the Law, and

traitorou■yepreparing, ordering, and levying War againft Us.

AND whereas there is Reafon to apprehend that lhcerebellion hath been much

promoted and encouraged by the traitorous Correfp‘ondenceg Counfels, and Comfort

of divers Wicked and defperate Perfons within this Realm :‘ To the End therefore,

that none of Our Subjects may. ne ’leét or violate their-Duty through Ignorance

thereof, or through any Doubt of the Protection which the Law will afford to,

their Loyalty and Zeal; We have thought, ■t, by and with the Advice of Our

Privy Council, to ilfue this Our Royal Proclamation, hereby declaring that not only
