AEGIWhat is the AdultEducational GuidanceInitiative (AEGI)?The AEGI is a Department ofEducation and Science fundedinitiative which provides qualityeducational guidance services foradults. There are 40 AEGI servicesbased nationally.

What does the AEGI offer?The AEGI offers a guidance service toadults which includes impartial adulteducation information, one-to-oneguidance and group guidance, whichwill help people to make informededucational, career and life choices.

Who is it for?The AEGI is aimed at those adults whoare considering or participating in AdultLiteracy, Vocational Training OpportunitySchemes (VTOS) and CommunityEducation, including Back to EducationInitiative (BTEI). Former residents ofdesignated institutions are also eligible toreceive guidance from the AEGI.

Impartial information on local, regional andnational adult education is available to thegeneral public, but only those within thecategories listed above are eligible forone-to-one guidance meetings.

Will it cost anything?The service is free to adults in thecategories referred to above.
