AIR

Air: The breath of life

It is a mixture of many gases like nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapour.

The atmosphere covering the Earth is like a blanket. It keeps the temperature of our planet i.e. the Earth fairly steady. During daytime, the atmosphere prevents the sudden increase of temperature.During night time, it slows down the escape of heat into outer space.

This is the result of that changes that take place in our atmosphere due to the heating of air and the formation of water vapour.

The water vapour is formed due to the heating of water bodies.

What causes rain?

What is air pollution?

Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or cause damage to the natural environment or built environment, into the atmosphere.

What causes air pollution?

The fossil fuels like coal and petroleum contain small amount o nitrogen and sulphur. When these fuels are burnt these produce pollutants.

Also cars and factories produce harmful gases.

Regularly breathing air containing any of these substance increases of allergies, cancer and heart diseases.
