Historical development of the game in the world

• It was in India that the badminton was born, with the name of “Poona” ( +- 1850 ).

• English officials to service in this country liked the game and they took it to Europe.

• The "poona" passed the if it calls Badminton when, in the decade of 1870, a new version of the sport was played in the property of Badminton, belonging to the Duke of Beaufort's, in Gloucestershire, England.

• The first rules were printed in India in 1876.

• In 1984 Brazil participated in the I American South Championship and in 1985 it won the II American South Championship. The first two tournaments were accomplished in Buenos Aires;

• In 1987 Brazil participated for the first time of a Cup Panamericano of Badminton accomplished in Lima (Peru).
