VillageTardosissituatedinUnionCouncilTardosofTalukaChachroDistrictTharparkarhavingmorethan800households.Thevillageislocatedatthedistanceofabout75kilometersfromChachro and 130 kilometers from district headquarter Tharparkar@ Mithi. The village isconnectedwiththetalukaanddistrictheadquartersthroughpaccaandkatcharoad.Thevillagewas hit by a fire onMay 11, 2020 at around 12 noon, when a sudden fire broke out in aresidential housewhile cooking due to strongwinds.Withinminutes, fires spread to otherhousesinthevillage.Intheresult23housesturnedintoashes,andresidentsstruggledtofindawaytosavetheirlives.Thesituationdepictsverycriticalconditionofthevillageaseverythinghasturnedtoasheswhichhascausedeconomiclossofthousandsofrupeesaccordingtoinitialreports.AWARETeamvisit&RAPIDASSESSMENTAstheincidentreportedinelectronic,printandsocialmediaandcameintheknowledgeoftheorganization, Association for Water, Applied Education & Renewable Energy- AWARETharparkarTeamvisitedthevillagewithin2hoursof incidentforrapidneedassessmentandanalyzingtheimmediateneedsofthevulnerablepeopleaffectedbythissevereanddangerousincidentoffire.Teamvisitedthevillageandcollectedinformationoftheincident.Lossoffood/storedgrain/fodder/cash/livestock/silver/goldAllthematerialof23housesburntcompletely;theystoredallthefoodgrainsofwheatwhichrecentlyreceivedfromgovernmentwhichwasstoredbythevillagersintheirhouseshavebeenburntcompletelyandthereareno food items left in thevillageandpeopleevendon’thaveavailabilityofonemeal.Besidesthis,allthestoredfoddertocatertheneedsoftheanimalshasbeenburntcompletely.Thelossoflivestock/animalsisalsoreportedbyvillagersasthatwerethemain sources of livelihood.
