Permanent Diaconate Program seeks interested men: The Permanent Diaconate has been present in the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama since 1973. With the arrival of Bishop Steven Raica in 2020, and at his direction, the Office of the Permanent Diaconate is looking to identify men who are interested in the Permanent Diaconate for the next formation class. Although the date for the start of the new class has not been set by Bishop Raica, the Office of the Permanent Diaconate will begin to develop a list of men who are interested in obtaining more information about the formation process. It is hoped that once the current restrictions have been relaxed, and after additional review by Bishop Raica, there will be informational sessions and an opportunity for men, and their wives, to learn more about the Permanent Diaconate and the formation process in the future.
Men who are interested in the Permanent Diaconate can contact Deacon Chris Rosko via email at crosko@bhmdiocese.org.

Music Director
With the resumption of choir activity, our parish has an opening for a Music Director. This is a part time, 20 hour per week position that requires oversight of music at both the English and Spanish Masses. This position requires experience with music theory as well as choir direction and knowledge of Music of Catholic Worship. Please call the parish office for a complete job description. To apply, leave your resume at the parish office or speak with Fr. Merrill.
Good News: On Thursday our new communion rail
will be installed. This will make it more convenient for those wishing to receive communion on the tongue while kneeling, and will give the chancel a more traditional appearance. Anyone wishing to receive communion in the hand while standing will still be able to do so.
Thank you to those who did such a beautiful job of decorating our church for Easter. Cathy Pearson and her team of Tammie Kilgo, Ellen Schomburg, and Kim Sciaroni, who worked several hours on Easter Saturday. Thanks to Linda Thurston who cleaned all the brass and helped with the altar linens.
April 25, 2021 Dear Parish: Thank you for the amazing support you gave to the Seafood Fiesta. The Take-Out-Only event exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to bringing back the traditional event activities next year to make the Fiesta bigger and better. It’s been a challenging year, but I’m happy to report that St. Ann School is having a great year led by our excellent faculty. Together we’ve overcome the COVID challenges and continue to provide in-school teaching. Our school teachers and staff continue to improve the quality of education and academic success of our students while teaching and living our Catholic faith. We are deeply thankful for all of your past support and would like to invite you to participate once again in our St. Ann School Annual Appeal. For the first time in three years, our student enrollment has grown during the school year with a net gain of 14 new students. We’ve gained an additional 19 new students for the 2021-2022 school year and are ready for the planned improvements to our academic and religious curriculum. We will launch a new curriculum utilizing the Classical style of teaching that Catholic schools have mastered from the beginning of the education movement. New language curriculum enhancements include Latin to help students expand their vocabularies and their understanding of the basics of word meanings. Latin is a helpful tool in developing a bridge between English and Spanish. Latin has been a traditional language used in the church and we continue to utilize it to build a stronger understanding of our roots. Our current Annual Appeal objective is $100,000. We have received a challenge from several families to match up to $10,000 in donations by May 31, 2021. May we count on you to help us meet this challenge for the benefit of our children? Whatever amount you choose to give will be a blessing to the school. Your gift to St. Ann Catholic School is tax deductible and can be made by:
using your Foundation envelope in our mail packets; by placing your cash or check donation in a white giving envelop found at the church entrance
tables; or through ParishSoft Giving by going to our website annunlord.com and clicking DONATE NOW
and choosing St. Ann’s Educational Foundation donation from the FUND drop down box. Please make all checks payable to St. Ann’s Educational Foundation. God bless, Brandi Lumley, Principal

El evento Take-Out-Only superó nuestras expectativas.

Stewardship
“I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.” The cycle starts with being known by the Lord. He claims us as His own and calls us by name. Then we can learn to know Him in faith and prayer. In knowing Him, we learn to imitate Him in a life of good works and generosity growing from the Lord’s grace.
