Procurement Policies for Women Entrepreneurs
At National Level
Working with Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India
For Past 5 years, MAWE had been stressing for a 5% reservation for women entrepreneurs, in Govt. Procurement, through verious meetings & representations.
A commitment to this effect was also made by me at the WVEF (now SHETRADES) Brazil in 2015.
ITC, encouragement to all Trail Blazers, to pitch for Policy reforms for Women Owned Enterprises… From Commitment to Action !!
A land mark victory for all our efforts !! MSME Ministry , Govt of India, agrees for a 3% Reservation
for Women Entrepreneurs in all Govt. Procurement.
Multi Storeyed Factory Complex for Micro & Small Women Entrepreneurs : State Level Initiative !
Representations & Ongoing Dialogue , with Madhya Pradesh State Govt, for constructing Multi Storeyed Factory complex, to house micro units of women entrepreneurs, at a site easily accessible by women, for setting up their production facilities.
Common facilities for developing Brands & Printing of good quality labels & packaging materials.
Common facilities Centre of Creche, for children,Medical Centre & Marketing arena for daily shopping needs.
A common Production & Facilities centre like the above ensures all Industrial compliances for Pollution, Labour , Power etc, The Multi Storeyed factory complex, houses many more units & makes it simpler for women to move into shell space of 1000, 1500 or 2000 sq feet pre designated areas, for starting their businesses or production.
Ready For Export Audits & Compliances
A modern production centre of this level, would facilitate, International buyer compliances & audits, making the Women Entrepreneurs ready for International markets.
Presently, price negotiations with the State Government are on through MAWE.
MSME Convention - 2016
MAWE’s Voice On International Policy issuesNetworking in SAARC Region
Speaking at CHOGM, Commonwealth Heads of Govt Meet
• Collectively, all trade policies should seek to not only “do no harm” but to actively promote gender equality, so women can “move up the value chain” (UK Parliament, 2018)
• before any trade negotiation, Governments should conduct impact assessments relating to the impact of any agreement on gender inequality (UK Parliament, 2018) eg. using the UNCTAD Trade and Gender Toolbox
Commonwealth: supporting and strengthening women in International Trade
Commonwealth : Gender, Trade and Public Procurement Policy – Collective impact• India as the largest Commonwealth country has shown leadership in policy
innovation in this area and responded to women’s voices• Commonwealth Centre of Excellence for Women in Procurement announced at
CHOGM in Malta with Government of Kenya, CBW and UN,is another good example.
