minute messages with 3 to 5 individuals at a time with short nutrition messages
• One minute messages deliver memorable and useful information

One Minute Messages - Example
Tortilla TemptationsEstablish a background: corn tortillas popular in
Mexico, they are lower in fat and calories. A source of fiber over white flour tortillas
Objective: Identify corn tortillas are lower in fat and calories and a source of Fiber
Materials: Pkg of 7” corn tortillas, and 7” white flour tortillas with nutrition facts labels from each

Activity: Place tortillas (one of each) on display table – begin with:

Attention grabber:Which do you think has more fat? Did you know tortillas are a source of fiber?Which do you think has more fiber and less fat?

Persuasion:Turn over each tortilla and have facts on fat and fiber for each.
• Explain how you will save on fat grams by eating corn tortilla verses white flour tortillas and that corn tortillas also contain fiber. Corn tortilla are a great choice!
• You can also explain to get more nutritional benefits from eating flour tortillas – switch to Whole Wheat and gain fiber!
