RESEARCHING IN TO WEBSITES

Indie-pop

Farjana [Reshma] Rahman

IN AN AVERAGE WEBSITE YOU WILL FIND:

Tabs for the obvious pages which are:

A Blog

Gallery

Store

Video

A place for your audience to sign up

Tour dates

Access to any connecting social networking sites

Some artists I’ve researched into are Ben Howard, Florence and the

machines, Lily Allen, Eliza Doolittle and KT Tunstall and The Lumineers.

HOME PAGES:

Most home pages have photos on the artist, to promote them and to further develop this we will take pictures on our artist for our website.

• TABS

Your tabs will link with your artists style.

• A BLOG

In the blog artist usually promote their tour and write entries of their journey and artists they’ve been listening to recently.

• GALLERY

Gallery’s can include photos from shows to just pictures from a photo-shoot.

•STORE

Each artist has a store for their fan base to get items that let others know what a proud fan they are. Items are usually in the style of the artist.

Signing up allows fans to be up to date with recent news on the artist or informed personally about any upcoming appearances.

• SOCIAL NETWORKING ACCESS

The social network is a big part of the majority of the audiences lives, therefore having a section where they can easily access all linking social networking makes life easier.

• VIDEOIt is wise to have a page where you can allow your audience to watch videos, whether its on your music video or it’s a daily vlog.

• TOUR DATES

This is a great way to inform your audience and promote dates on any tours.

MUSIC VIDEOS ON FRONT PAGE

In my research I have found that it is a great idea to put your music video on the home page, as it’s a good way to promote it and instantly grab the audiences attention.

INTERACTIVE!

Having interactive games and more, sends a positive vibe of the artist and gets the audience more involved with the site.

A LYRICS TAB

A lyrics tab is optional, however I do feel it’s better for your audience to get the lyrics off of your site than others.

INSPIRATION!

These are some inspirational pictures from the websites I’ve researched into. The first one is the home page of Eliza Doolittle and is very creative and makes her stand out uniquely as an artist. The second picture is of Lily Allen’s tab of goodies, this gave me the idea of calling the store something else like goodies just like the next picture as KT Tunstall calls her blog journal.

INSPIRATION!

On Florence and the Machine’s website, they were creative by having the various pictures of the lead singer.

INSPIRATION!

Along with the moving images, the background would change colours, going with the colour of the image.

LILY ALLEN’S WEBSITE

Despite looking at many great website, I did stumble across a not relatively bad but messy site. Which was a warning to me and informed me on a good and bad site. On Lily Allen’s site tabs wouldn’t work and the homepage was out of place.
