Asmar Wood has been supplying lumber products to the Lebanese since 1958. As an importer of products from around the world, the company maintains extensive storage facilities. One such storage depot is a 15,000 m2 warehouse which comprises 5,500 m2 slab on grade and 9,500 m2 suspended slabs.

CCL’s specialist Surface team was engaged to carry out a value engineering exercise on an existing reinforced concrete (RC) slab design. This produced a crack-free, joint-free, flat and level post-tensioned (PT) floor slab solution. Reengineering the RC slab as a PT slab on grade eliminated the need for the screed topping and provided cost savings of 30%.

The CCL team also undertook installation of the slab, which involved a continuous concrete pour of 2,200 m2 over 16 hours. The project was completed in 75 days.
