Irene Montalvo is an
inspiration to her
daughter, and for
hundreds of students of
Fontana Adult School
Irene is originally from Peru.
She moved to the United
States, and decided to take
ESL classes at Fontana Adult
School to improve her English
and get into the job force. We
are happy to announce that
she recently got hired by
Cardenas as a cashier!
Irene will be back taking
classes with us while working
full-time. She knows the
importance of learning the
language for upward mobility.
She is inspiring her daughter,
who is a student at Fontana
Adult School, to work hard
toward her dreams. She is also
inspiring many of our ESL
students at FAS to follow in her
footsteps!
Alumnus Success Story – Carlos Flores
Carlos was a student at
Fontana Adult School two years
ago. Upon finishing his High
School Equivalency with us
(HiSet), he decided to push
forward and attend Chaffey
College. He recently got in
touch with Ms. Browning to let
her know he’s doing very well
at Chaffey, and is majoring in
math!
Carlos will soon come to
campus to inspire a new
generation of students.
ESL Students Learned Reading, Writing, Use of Computer
Software Programs, While Practicing Public Speaking and
Working Collaboratively During Summer
During summer session in June, Mrs. Pinell Hernandez, Mrs. Ortega, Ms. Gomez, Mr.
Germany, and Ms. Perri, students had an opportunity to complete a cross-curricular project,
which was a children’s book. The project was not easy; some students were better versed in
their English reading and writing skills while others struggled. Some had knowledge of the
computer programs; others tried hard to learn and catch up. The end products were
beautiful children’s books that were dedicated to various elementary schools around
Fontana Unified School District. Here are some pictures from celebration event that took
place on June 26, 2019 where families were invited to hear the reading of the books.
Congratulations students and teachers for your accomplishment and for,
more importantly, not giving up on this project!!!!
