Cancer – the big picture
• 1 in 3 of people will develop cancer sometime during their lifetime and 1 in 4 people in the UK will die from the disease.
• Today, and every day, 410 people will die from cancer in the UK
• About a quarter of all terminally ill UK cancer patients die at home. Marie Curie Cancer Care cares for half of them.

complementary therapies alongside traditional care
Research and Education
• Improving quality of life and care for patients we never meet:– Scientific Research: a better understanding– Specialist Palliative Care Research: improving
care– Education programmes
With the funds raised through the adoption Marie Curie Cancer Care would be able to fund a Marie Curie Clinical Specialist Nurse for one year.
£27,000 would pay for a Marie Curie Clinical Specialist Nurse for one year.
Providing a Marie Curie Nurse in a patient’s home for one hour costs £20 approx.
