• Operates regional and commuterservices on West Coast Main Line andthroughout West Midlands

• Franchise 2007 to 2015 (now 2017)

• 1,300 trains a day

• 60m passenger journeys per year

• 148 stations managed

• West Coast route shared with Virgin,Southern, London Overground andFreight Operating Companies

What’s happening?

• Network Rail £81m scheme totackle the most common causes ofdelay

• During the work 13km of trackthrough Watford will be blocked

• Train operators have now agreedwith Network Rail that longclosures are not needed and workwill be completed in a series ofweekend closures during 2014/15

What’s the plan?

• To install 175km of new fencing tostop farm animals getting onto theline, discouraging trespass andhelping to reduce cable theft

• All signalling between Kings Langleyand Bushey will be renewed

• Over 15km of new track will be laid

• An upgrade of the overhead lineequipment

• New junctions to link theWest Coast Mainline toLondon Overground linesbetween Watford and Eustonto allow maintenance whilekeeping train servicesrunning.
