In July 2006, the Massachusetts legislature narrowly defeated a bill which would limit household water use to 65 gallons per person per day.

The average personal household water use in the United States today is 78 gallons per person per day.

Las Vegas, Nevada is paying homeowners and business $1.00 per square foot to remove turfgrass to conserve water use.

Some communities in California are following Las Vegas.

17 communities in Canada have banned

In 2009

Commercial and residential outdoor water use in the United States accounts for more than seven billion gallons of water each day, mainly for landscape irrigation.
