Technical Assistance and Certification Unit (TACU)

TACU is the administrative arm of the N.C. Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission.

This unit provides technical support to the commission, as well as managing educational opportunities and certification programs for operators of waste treatment systems across North Carolina.

Well Contractors Certification

The Well Contractors Certification Unit protects public health and safety by ensuring the integrity and competence of well contractors through examinations, certification and enforcement.

Well contractor certification staff provide

support to the Commission and handle the day-to-day operations of the program.

Primary aspects of the certification program include:

• Continuing education• Exams• Applications• Rulemaking• Outreach• Renewals• Enforcement

Information Processing Unit (IPU)

� Capturing data for multiple programs across the division.

� Entry of permit compliance data.

� Ensuring quality control of source documents.

� Analyzing data that is incomplete.

� Providing user support to the electronic submittal process.

� Managing the repository of water quality documents (DWQ Central Files).
