Monthly School Report
March 2019
1. Second Incorporated Management Committee Meeting
On 5th March, Supervisor Prof. Shum K.Y. Daisy chaired the second IMC Meeting. The
following reports were discussed:
the School Audit Report 2017-18,
creating a post of Executive Officer under the EDB newly released “One Executive
Officer for Each School” Policy,
plan on the usage of the EDB Reading Grant
tendering of Photocopiers Service
the donations received between November and March and other routines.
2. Visit of Dr. Kenneth Chan Cham Ming and the Participants of
“Professional Development Programme for Middle Leaders in Schools”
organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Education
On 8th March, the Hong Kong Institute of Education organized a visit by Dr. Kenneth Chan
Cham Ming and the participants of the “Professional Development Programme for Middle
Leaders in Schools”. I introduced our school and the management strategies to them and
escorted them on a campus tour.
3. Parents’ Day
On 9th March, Parents’ Day was held. S.1 to S.5 parents were invited to come to the school to
discuss with class teachers their children’s academic and non-academic performance in the
first term.
4. S.1 Discretionary Places Selection Interview
On 16th March, the selection interview for 2019-2020 S1 Discretionary Place Admission of
our school was held. The interviews were conducted in both English and Cantonese.
Approximately 380 students attended the interview. Interviewees were divided into groups to
meet our teachers. I also met parents and conversed with them about our school’s policies and
development while they were waiting for their children.
5. Parents’ Tea Gathering and Workshop
On 20th March, the PTA of our school organized a tea gathering to invite S.1-5 parents and
teachers to enjoy the food prepared by the parent volunteers. After the tea gathering, Ms. Tam
On Wing Bell, the School Social Worker, gave a talk to the parents about the ways of
communicating with children and the importance of being their companion.

6. The Second Life Wide Learning Day
On 22nd March, the second whole school Life Wide Learning Day was organized. The details of the activities are

7. Visit of the Participants of “Aspiring Principals Training Course”
organized by the Hong Kong Baptist University
On 23rd March, Mr. Stephan Chan Ming Wah, the former Principal of Kowloon Tong School
(Secondary Section), and the participants of the “Aspiring Principals Training Course”
organized by the Hong Kong Baptist University visited our school. I introduced our school
and the management strategies to them. I also escorted them on a campus tour.
8. Territory Wide Joint Districts Primary School Mathematics Contest
Prize giving Ceremony
On 27th March, the Territory-wide Joint Districts Primary School Mathematics Contest
Prize-giving Ceremony was held. Professor Tong Chong Sze, the Vice President
(Administration & Development) of the Open University of Hong Kong and Dr. Chan Wai
Hong Daricks, the Head of Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, the
Education University of Hong Kong were invited as the honourable guests of the Ceremony.
Our school was the host of the competition in the district. Mr. Hong Chun Wah Simon, the
Senior Lecturer of the Department of Education Studies of the Hong Kong Baptist University,
and I presented the prizes to the winners of the competition in Wong Tai Sin District.
9. CCC Flag Selling Day
On 30th March, our school participated in the Flag Selling Day organized by the Headquarters
of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China, the sponsoring body of our
school. We recruited over 100 students to be the volunteers for selling flags to raise funds for
social services for people in need.

Mathematics Department
(1) S.1-3 Mathematics tutorial classes were held for students every Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday in March. Sixty one S.1 -S.3 students were recruited. Mr. Li WK, Ms. Lam
YC, Ms. Chan ST, Mr. Lam HK, Mr. Tai TT, Mr. Moy KY and Mr. Yu YL and S.5 Maths.
Buddies were responsible for teaching the tutorial classes.
(2) On 6th and 20th March after school, S.4 remedial classes were held. On 7th and 21st March
after school, S.5 remedial classes were held. Mr. Li SF was responsible for both the S.4
and S.5 remedial classes and Mr. Lam HK, Mr. Li WK and the alumnus Au CH was the
assistant for the classes.
(3) In March, six S.4 students were nominated to participate in Mathematics _An Octopus
IV of the JSI workshop organized by the Faculty of Science of the University of Hong
Kong.
(4) Yung Wan Ching (1E) got the Second Class Prize. Chan Yuet Tung (1A), So Choi Ki
(3D) got the Third Class Prize in the 11th “Hua Xia Cup” Chinese National Mathematics
Olympic Hong Kong Selection.
(5) Cheung Chi Chung (1B) was selected to enter the final competition of the 18th Pui Ching
Mathematics Invitation Competition organized by Pui Ching Middle School.
(6) Siu Ho Hang (3B) got the Third Class Prize in the 21st PLK Hong Kong Young
Mathematics Elites Selection Competition.
(7) On 2nd March, three S.1 and S.3 students participated in the 9th The Secret of T
Mathematics Competition organized by Heung To Middle School.
(8) Mathematics Department encouraged students to read journal articles and books as
below:
On 8th March, Department nominated four S.3 and two S.5 students to participate in
the Mathematics Reading Report Competition organized by the Education Bureau.
Mr. Li WK was responsible for the competition.
On 13th March, Mathematics Department issued the new issue of “Mathgazine (算
數)” to arouse students’ interest in reading Mathematics articles.
On 19th March, a sharing session was co-organized by the Mathematics Department
and Library.
(9) On 14th March, the “PI” Day was held to arouse schoolmates’ interests in Mathematics.
Eighty students joined the activity.
(10) On 29th March, a STEM DAY was co-organized with Science KLA and ICT Department
for S.2 students. The Mathematics Department designed questions with the use of the
formula of internal angles of polygons and Pythagoras’ Theorem to solve problems.
(11) The Mathematics Society organized an activity ‘Monthly Mathematics Challenge’ to
arouse students’ interest in Mathematics. The winners for March were Wong Yuen Chung

(4E) and Cheuk Hei Tung (1C).
(12) Professional Development Activities:
On 4th March, Mr. Li WK attended a seminar “Sharing Session on STEM
Education” organized by The Education Bureau.
On 20th March, Mr. Li WK attended a seminar “How to implement e-Learning in
Mathematics?” organized by The Education Bureau.
On 23rd March, Mr. Li WK attended a seminar “Amendments of the Extended
Modules of Mathematics and the teaching strategies” organized by Longman
Publishing House.
On 30th March, Mr. Li WK attended a meeting of Dissemination of Module 2
Teaching Material with the topic “Reflections after ten years of HKDSE M2”
organized by Chung Tai Publishing House.
(13) Others:
In March, our school participated in the Mock Paper Exchange Scheme with Ho
Fung College (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), Ying Wa Girls’ School, Saint Louis
School and Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School.
On 27th March, the Prize Giving Ceremony of the 14th Territory Wide Joint Primary
School Mathematics Competition was held.
Chemistry Department (Science KLA)
(1) Sixteen S.3 Chemistry students were nominated to join the “Science Assessment Test”
organized by the Hong Kong Association of Mathematics and Science Education.
(2) On 22nd March, “A visit to HKU School of Chinese Medicine” was arranged for
forty-three S4 and S5 students in the Life-wide Learning day organized by the School of
Chinese Medicine, HKU.
(3) On 23rd March, five S.3 and S.4 Chemistry students participated in the “Hong Kong
Observatory Open Day and Extreme Weather Seminar organized by the Hong Kong
Observatory
(4) One S.4 student was nominated to join the “2019 Aviation Management Programme
(Hong Kong)” organized by the School of Aviation, UNSW Australia.
(5) Two S.4 students were nominated to join the “Summer School in Hong Kong:
Familiarization with Veterinary Medicine” organized by the City University of Hong
Kong.
(6) Five S.3 Chemistry students participated in the “Element of the Month for IYPT-2019
(March)” Competition organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and
Mathematics Education. Two students got a Merit Award.
(7) Eight-one S.5 students were accepted to participate in the “Secondary School
Mathematics and Science Competition (SSMSC)” organized by the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University with the aid of DLG.
(8) Eleven S.3 and S.4 Chemistry students divided into three teams were nominated to
participate in the “Creative Architect Competition” organized by the STEM Alliance of
Hong Kong.

(9) Twelve S.3 to S.5 Science students in three teams were nominated to participate in the
“STEAM RUN Youth Orienteering Competition” organized by the ROUGH Hong Kong.
(10) On 29th March, a team of six S.2 to S.4 students submitted their Investigation Report of
the “Safer Campus: What Can We Do?” Student Project Competition organized by the
Hong Kong Education Bureau.
(11) Others:
On 8th March, “Fun Science Competition” was arranged by the Science Society
during Whole School Assembly. The theme of this competition was “Science can
change our daily life”. Eight teams entered the Final round in the competition.
On 12th March, the monthly newsletter of Science Society, “Sound of Science” was
issued with the theme of “Healthy Body”.
On 21st March after school, “HKBU Science Talk” was held by Dr. Chan Yi Yi from
the Department of Chinese Medicine, the Hong Kong Baptist University with the
theme of “Introduction of Common Acpoints for Health”.
On 13th March after school, “PolyU Science Talk” was held by Dr. Matthew Pang
from the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University with the theme of “Demonstrations of Satellite Images and
Applications”.
Integrated Science Department
(1) Four S.2 students were nominated to join the “Science Assessment Test” organized by
the Hong Kong Association of Mathematics and Science Education.

(3) One team of four S.1 students was nominated to participate in the “STEAM RUN Youth
Orienteering Competition” organized by the ROUGH Hong Kong.
(4) On 29th March, a team of six S.2 to S.4 students submitted their investigation report of
the “Safer Campus: What Can We Do?” Student Project Competition organized by the
Hong Kong Education Bureau.
(5) Four S.2 students entered the final round of the “Building Safety Student Ambassador
Program – Music Video Production Competition” organized by the Hong Kong Building
Department.
(6) On 29th March, a STEM Day was co-organized for all S.2 students by the Integrated
Science, Mathematics and ICT Departments. Students needed to solve Science problems
about Electricity and Neutralization at our task games.
(7) Others:

life”. Eight teams entered the Final round in the competition.

On 13th March after school, “PolyU Science Talk” was held by Dr. Matthew Pang

Economics Department
(1) On 6th March, thirty-three S5 students attended the long-standing Budget Talk organized by
Economics and Finance Society, the University of Hong Kong. This is an open forum on the
Hong Kong government budget and economy.
(2) On 13th March, the annual task-game, Billionaire, organized by the Economics Society was
successfully held. Seventeen F.4-5 students participated in the activity.
(3) On 14th March, fifteen S5 students attended Budget ONLINE@M21 organised by the Hong
Kong Federation of Youth Groups. The activity provides a great chance for the students to
review the Budget and express their opinion to the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Mr
Paul Chan Mo-po.
(4) On 22rd March, the second term Life-wide Learning Day, twelve S4 and twenty S5 students
participated in the mainland study tour : Exploring Tour to Hi-Tech Enterprises in Shenzhen.
The students visited Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Enterpreneur Hub
(前海深港青年夢工場) and had a chance to talk to insiders of the HKX project by the
University of Science and Technology Hong Kong. In the afternoon, they visited a Hong
Kong based factory producing contract electronics manufacturing services for leading global
electronic brands.
(5) On 26th March, our department invited Dr Kin-Ming Wong from the Department of
Economics, Hong Kong Baptist University to deliver a school talk on ‘Sharing Economy’.
The school talk attracted fourteen F.4 Economists and eighteen F.5 Economists to attend.
History Department
(1) The Second Panel Meeting was held on 13th March, 2019 with the foci on evaluating
students’ performance in the First Term Examination and discussing the problems
encountered and measures to enhance learning and teaching.
(2) About 150 staff and students (S2 to S5) took part in a talk on ‘The May Fourth
Movement and the Hong Kong Youth Today and Tomorrow jointly organized by the
History Society and the Liberal Studies Society on 20th March (Wednesday) from 4:00
p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our department, the Chinese History Department and the School
Library also helped hold a board display and book exhibition on May Fourth Movement
in the School Library from 18th March to 22nd March 2019.
(3) A visit to Central Route of Central and Western Heritage Trail under the docent services
of the Antiquities and Monuments Office was arranged for seventeen S5 History

students on the Second LWL Day on 22nd March, 2019. Ms. Chan MY and Ms. Lin SY
accompanied students in the activity.
Health Management and Social Care Department
(1) On 14th March, Chan Man Yee (S.5) attended an interview of the outstanding student
award of Health Management and Social Care Field Learning Expo 2019 organized by
the Education Bureau.
(2) On 18th March, the school health ambassador team organized the Mental Health
Awareness Fair for promoting mental health in school. The theme of this fair was
Making Friends with Stress. The activity was held successfully and all participants
actively participated.
Music Department
(1) On 12th March, a pre-competition performance of the Schools Music Festival was
organized for the participants of solo events. Programmes included piano solos and
choral singing. Also, another mini concert presented by the handchime team was held on
28th March. The performances were well. appreciated by the audience.
(2) Various school teams, including the school choir, a cappella team, Chinese Orchestra and
the hand-chime team are going to join the Joint School Music Competitions 2019 in
April. They are attending rehearsals actively to prepare for the competitions.
(3) To nurture life-long interest in performance arts appreciation, students were encouraged
to attend concerts and performances organized by various organizations. Students were
fully engaged and had enjoyable artistic experiences. Details of the concerts and

Visual Arts Department
(1) 7th March, Mr. Wan and fifteen S.5 VA students went to the EDB Kowloon Tong
Services Centre for a learning experience of HKDSE VA portfolio. It was a great chance
to see good students’ artwork from other schools.
(2) 20th March, Mr. Wan had an enhancement class with S.6 VA students for their HKDSE
VA final preparation.
(3) 21st March, M21, an NGO, sent an artist to teach cartoon drawing for S.4 VA students.
Students also learnt to share healthy information and create wonderful comics.
(4) 22nd March, Mr. Wan, Ms. Man and 21 senior VA students visited OUHK. This time, we
met Dr. Leung and understood more about the course of Animation.
(5) 26th March, Mr. Wan and fifteen S.4 VA students and Ms. Luka Leung (TA) went to the
EDB Kowloon Tong Services Centre for a learning experience of HKDSE VA portfolio.
It was a great chance to see good students’ artwork from other schools.
PE Department

(1) Twenty three students joined a 4-day Taiwan Sports Experience Tour from 22nd to 25th
March. Apart from visiting the Da Yeh University, participant experienced various sports
related activities.
(2) The 7th Hong Kong Games will take place from 28/4 to 2/6 this year.Liu Wai Yin (1A),
Ho Ka Yi (6A), Wong Tsz Chung (6C), Chan Chak Kwan (6D) and Ms. Kwok Sai Ming,
our PE department head are invited to present the Wong Tai Sin District Athletic Team to
take part in the athletic competition.
(3) Our athletic team took part in the Inter-School Athletic Competition. We won 19
individual events and 1 relay event. Our boys team did an outstanding performance.
Boys grade B overall came fourth. Boys grade C overall came second and our Boys
teams won the Boys overall third.

11. Report from Academic Affairs Committee
Extra summer Lessons and Pre S6 UT arrangement were introduced to S5 students on 16th
March, 2018. They were encouraged to have good preparation for the S5 final exam and
pre-S6 UT.

12. Report from Extra-Curricular Affairs Committee
(1) On 4th and 5th March, Inter-house volleyball matches were held. In the final round,
Bigelow House won the overall champion with Liu Fung Ling the first runner-up and
Lowrey House the second runner-up. House members watched, cheered and supported
their houses.
(2) From 22nd to 25th March, the Taipei Sports Exchange Tour was held. Twenty-three
students and three PE teachers participated in the tour. Various sports activities were
carried out including university visiting, cycling, horse riding, baseball match watching.
Students really enjoyed taking part in all these activities.
(3) On 30th March, CCC Flag Selling Day was held. One hundred and twenty-eight
students and parents joined the event.
13. Report from Guidance Committee
(1) From 1st to 2nd March, Guidance Prefects organized a relaxation camp for their
schoolmates. Forty schoolmates joined the camp.
(2) On 1st March, eight students of Guidance Prefect attended a sharing session with the
Guidance Prefects of other schools at Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Fut Nam
College.
(3) On 11th March, the members of S.1 Board Game Group visited Talent Kindergarten and
Nursery and play boardgames with K3 students of the kindergarten.
(4) On 13th March, ten Guidance Prefects attended a sharing session with the Guidance
Prefects of other schools at Munsang College.
14. Report from Discipline Committee
(1) On 12th March, a lunchtime games booth was organized for all students at the school main
entrance in order to help them relieve their stress.
(2) On 22nd March, twenty-two S.4 and 5 students paid a visit to the prison in Chai Wan
(Cape Collinson Correctional Institution). In the visit, the facilities in the correctional
institution were introduced to the participants. This helped our students to develop
positive values towards life and become responsible and law-abiding citizens with a view
to reducing crimes.
15. Report from Career Guidance Committee
(1) On 26th March, an electives selection conference was held for S3 students by the Career
Guidance Team.
(2) On 27th March, our school sent the S.6 students’ School Reference Report (SRR) to
JUPAS.
(3) On 29th March, there was a movie show “UP”, co-organized with the English Society.

16. Report from Staff Development Committee
The fifth Community of Practice (CoP) was held on 28th March. Mr Chan LD delivered a CoP
on Practical iPad apps for learning activities in the classroom.
17. Report from Religious Education Committee
(1) On 1st March, a prayer worship gathering was held.
(2) On 4th, 18th and 25th March, meetings of the core group of Christian Fellowship were
held preparing for the Student Fellowship activities.
(3) After school on 13th and 27th March, the meetings of the Christian Fellowship were held.
(4) At lunch time on 1st,8th and 29th March, S.4 cell group meetings were held.
(5) At lunch time on 12th,13th and 26th March, S.5 cell group meetings were held.
(6) At lunch time on 26th March, a Teacher Prayer Meeting was held.
(7) On 6th and 14th March, Christian leadership training sessions were held.
18. Report from Parental Affairs Committee
On 20th March, the PTA organized a “Parents’ Tea Party”. The parents shared the food made
by the volunteers as well as their experience in family education first, then the school social
worker was invited to hold a workshop. The participants enjoyed the event very much.
19. Report from The Library
(1) From 14th to 15th March, the English Book Fair was successfully held. This book fair was
jointly organized with the English Department. English teachers have arranged students
to visit the book fair for purchasing books and participating in the reading activity held in
the book fair.
(2) On 19th March, a book sharing meeting co-organized with the Mathematics Department

the Mathematics Society and the school librarians introduced and shared different leisure
books related to Mathematics in the meeting.
19. Principal’s External Activities
(1) On 2nd March, I was invited to attend the banquet of the 25th anniversary of King Ling
College.
(2) At noon on 6th March, I was invited to attend a lunch meeting for the WTS District
Committees members organized by the WTS District Office of the Home Affairs
Department.
(3) On 9th March, I was invited to give a talk about the theory and practice of Knowledge
Management in school to the middle managers of the schools of Salvation Army.
(4) On 13th March, I attended the IMC meeting of Kowloon True Light School.
(5) At noon on 18th March, I attended the meeting of the Principal Fellowship of WTS
District.
