Cellers Joan d´Anguera L'HOSTAL DO Montsant, Spain

Joan d'Anguera is the property of Joan and Josep Anguera,the 7th generation of farmers. They are located in Darmos,the lowest area to the south of the Montsantappellation. The family roots in wine go back to 1820, butthe first vintage was bottled in 1984 by their father.

Today the estate counts 30 hectars divided into multiplesingle vineyards. They lie at an altitude of 200 to 300meters on clay and calcerous soils.

The Anguera brothers strive to work as naturally aspossible, both in the winery and in the vineyard. Theirphilosophy is based on the respect for traditions andfollowing the natural rhythms of the eco-system. They arecertified organic and biodynamic, and like to let naturefollow its course, thus allowing the wines to express thepersonality of their unique terroir.All wines are fermented with inidigenous yeast and notfiltered.

L'Hostal is the signature wine of Joan D'anguera. It is adeeply complex carinyena , rooted in the traditions ofDarmós. Delicate and silky, very pure. It is like putting thehistory of Darmós in a bottle.

Chalky-sandy soils

Hand harvested in the morning. Whole cluster.Fermentation with natural yeast with no correction ofthe juice ( no tartaric, no sulphites, etc...) during 40days. The wine is aged in used barrels for 36 monthsand remain 1 year in bottle before being released.
