Q2 – what is the minimum temperature The will permit expansion of the will permit expansion of the above gas

to 400 psia ?

Solution

From Fig 20-14 (sp.gr 1= 0.6) at ( P1=1000 psia and P2=400 psia ) = T1 = 77 °F

From Q1 sp.gr = 0.6714 T = ? °F

From Fig 20-15 (sp.gr 2 = 0.7) at ( P1=1000 psia and P2=400 psia ) = T2 = 102 °F

Interpolating at T1 and T2

Q3 – what is the minimum expansion pressure of the above gas that can be used without hydrate formation ?

Solution

From Fig 20-14 (sp.gr 1= 0.6) at ( P1=1000 psia and T1 = 80 °F ) = P1 = 340 psia

From Q1 sp.gr = 0.6714 P2 = ? psia

From Fig 20-15 (sp.gr 2 = 0.7) at ( P1=1000 psia and T1 = 80 °F ) = P2 = 800 psia
