Advocates for open data believe that government and civic services should be as intuitively interactive and useful as the best e-commerce and social networking tools. The City of Chicago's First Deputy Commissioner Department of Innovation and Technology, Brenna Berman, has been instrumental in opening up public data in her city, allowing citizens to do just that.
