Coming Out Of The World by Pastor Fee SolivenRomans 12:1-2 Sunday Morning

June 8, 2014

Romans 12:1-21 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your

reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be

transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that

good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

1. The Corinthian SocietyWorld’s Most Licentious City

Romans 5:20“But where sin abounded, grace did

much more abound”

2 Corinthians 7:11 Therefore, having these promises,

beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,

perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1 Peter 1:15-1615 But as he which hath called you is

holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written,

Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 John 2:1515 Love not the world, neither the

things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is

not in him.

Luke 13:3-4"I tell you, no; but unless you repent

you will all likewise perish.

2. The Unequal YokeTwo Incompatible Lifestyles

1 Corinthians 6:19-2019 Or do you not know that your body

is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and

you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which

are God's.

3. Motive for Pursuing Holiness

John 14:23"Jesus answered and said to him, "If

anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and

We will come to him and make Our home with him."

4. The Principle Of Separation From The World

Love Not the World

1 John 2:16-1716 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is

of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he

who does the will of God abides forever.

Colossians 3:5-105 Therefore put to death your members

which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and

covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of

God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you

yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice,

blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another,

since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new

man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who

created him…

Proverbs 6:16-1916 These six things the LORD hates,

Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands

that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are

swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who

sows discord among brethren.

5. Be Not Conformed

John 17:15"I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You

should keep them from the evil one."

Matthew 5:13-1513 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing

but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill

cannot be hidden.

 6. Cleanse Ourselves

Philippians 2:12-1412 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence

only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do

for His good pleasure.

 7. Perfecting Holiness

Hebrews 6:1"Therefore, leaving the discussion of

the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead

works and of faith toward God..."

Romans 7:18"For I know that in me (that is, in my

flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform

what is good I do not find."
