Amberwell Engineering Services Ltd is a family owned and run Electrical & Mechanical
Service Company. Trading for 10 years and driven by three directors with a combined
experience of over 80 years in the industry. Amberwell are based in Pyle, South
Wales, situated right alongside the M4 motorway. With an employee base of over 50
skilled and professional staff Amberwell is dedicated to delivering a top quality service.
At Amberwell we provide Electrical and Mechanical engineering services within both
commercial and industrial sectors. These services include design, supply, installation,
testing, commissioning and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems. As a

Over the last decade Amberwell have provided planned and reactive maintenance to
many clients. We are particularly proud of the fact that we have held the contract for
the reactive maintenance for the 23 Learning Difficulty properties hosted by ABMU NHS
Trust, for both Electrical and Mechanical maintenance, for the last 9 years. We now
also offer reactive maintenance call out facilities to Peter Alan and Principality Building
Society to both their retail branches throughout South Wales, and their headquarters in
Cardiff and Culverhouse Cross.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND AMBERWELL ... Mr Rhydian Roberts James
Commercial Managing Director Rhydian has over 40 years experience within the electrical industry, starting
out as an apprentice electrician working at Port Talbot Steel Works before
moving on and gaining a wealth of experience across the industry. After
owning and running his first business for 10 years, Rhydian sold his
company and worked as General Manager of the AES sub-division of J W
Morris. It wasn’t long before he decided it was time to start up his new company
Amberwell Engineering Services Ltd, with a new coalition of family and friends. 10 years
on and Amberwell has become the success that we see today, commercially driven
forward by Rhydian’s extensive knowledge and experience in the industry in which we
work.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND AMBERWELL ... Mr Philip David Griffiths
Technical / Estimating Director Starting out in the National Coal Board, David has worked within the
industry for over 35 years. He began his career as an electrical apprentice,
before qualifying and becoming an approved electrician. He went on to
project manage large contracts, which lead him down the route of
developing his technical side of Electrical Engineering. David went on to
qualify in Testing & Inspection, Design & Verification and has gained an ONC Electrical
Engineering. It was inevitable that David would soon span out and create his own
company and teamed up with Rhydian and Steffan setting up the successful company of
Amberwell Engineering Services Ltd that you see before you today.

Steffan has gained over 25 years experience in the electrical contracting
business, culminating in his present role as Installation Director and one of
the directors of Amberwell Engineering Services Ltd.
Steffan is responsible for the overall management of projects from start to
completion. He has experience in large, multi phased contracts at locations
throughout the U.K. As part of his role within Amberwell, Steff, ensures all operations
are undertaken safely and has recently obtained the IOSH Health & Safety Management
qualification. He is responsible for ensuring the project progresses in accordance with
the projects programme whilst ensuring financial control is managed throughout.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND AMBERWELL ... Mr Oliver Griffiths
Commercial Manager Oliver has been part of the Amberwell team for 5 years. Starting off his
career as a junior estimator / CAD Technician, he gained qualifications in
Building Services Engineering. During his time here at Amberwell, Oliver
has developed a knowledge and understanding in the electrical engineering
industry and uses this in his day to day work to help drive forward the
commercial side of the company. From gaining this invaluable experience of working on
the technical side of the company, and now using his head for figures, Oliver aides the
Managing Commercial Director.

Here at Amberwell we take the Health and Safety of our employees and our clients
very seriously. We strive to complete all tasks we undertake in an efficient but safe
manor to achieve our project completion. In order to achieve our goals in keeping
everyone safe, Amberwell have employed an external Health & Safety Consultancy to
ensure that we do everything that we can to stick to legal and customer requirement.
The external consultancy are Crownford Consulting Limited.
In compliance with our Health & Safety policy, our employees and sub-contractors are
all suitably qualified for their relevant roles, and hold the following credentials: -

Amberwell management recognises the importance of its staff and encourage the
reporting of any hazard or risk that may affect our health & safety standard. We also

HEALTH & SAFETY AT AMBERWELL ...
ORGANISATION OF HEALTH & SAFETY AT AMBERWELL ... Our Health & Safety Director; Mr Steffan James ensures that statutory, mandatory and
other health and safety related training is identified, organised and delivered in a
timely manner so as to ensure the maintenance of any necessary licensing /
certification of individuals.
Steffan ensures that any non-routine work is effectively controlled through the
inspection of method statements and risk assessments, where appropriate, or by other
measures that are from time to time implemented. All risk assessments are
communicated to employees.
All employees are made aware of the company health and safety policy and their
responsibilities.
All employees have an individual responsibility and duty for:
Making themselves familiar with, and conforming with Amberwell Engineering’s
Health and Safety policy at all times.
Wearing appropriate safety or protective equipment and using appropriate safety
devices
Reporting without delay all risks or hazards, including defects to machinery,
unsafe practises, and ‘near miss’ situations directly to Steffan James (Health &
Safety Director).
Regular toolbox talks are delivered to employees on site, to supply and refresh
information about health and safety protocols.
The company’s external Health & Safety Consultants, Crownford Consulting Ltd work
alongside the Directors in complying with all statutory requirements and in keeping the
health and safety of all persons employed by Amberwell Engineering at the fore-front
of importance. This is achieved by:
Ensuring that the annual risk assessment procedure is completed in a timely
fashion and any issues arising are entered onto Remedial Action Plans.
Developing and maintaining the Legal Register and advising the Management on
any changes that affect the information contained.
Producing documents relevant for the activities carried out either within the
organisation or elsewhere.
Ensuring the client is complying with all current health and safety laws and
regulations.
Providing guidance and documents for Amberwell Engineering to assist in the
reduction of risks within the workplace.
