Continuous Particulate Monitoring

Using Light ScatterPhotometers

EPA Designation: None PM2.5 Continuous Particulate Monitor for AQI, Visibility, Remediation, Mobile Monitor Indoor Air Quality Monitor for Workplace, Home Casinos.Principle of Operation: Near Forward Light ScatterCost: Hand Held $3,000. Environmental for Outdoors $5,000.Accessories: Various PM Inlets, Filter and Foam InsertsDownloading: RS232 and Data SoftwareSupport: BGI Offices in Atlanta & Boston. Scattered light has components of diffraction, refraction and reflection.

Changes in the particulate reflective properties, shape

and color have an effect on instruments mass response. Gravimetric calibration is necessary to correlate to EPA

PM concentration criteria. Not EPA Designated. Used as a Survey or low cost continuous ambient monitor.

Sample Volume

Clean Air Condition. (No Particles)

Infra red beam is focused onto the light trap.

No forward scattering effect.

Zero mass measurement seen by detector.

Zero calibration using a HEPA filter.

Particulate Introduced to Sample Volume

Beam is scattered due to the effects of diffraction, refraction and reflection.

Intensity of Infra red signal is measured by detector and directly proportional to mass.
