Crime Scene Sketching

• Important things to remember– Approx. location of evidence– Overall measurements of room– Finding north– Labeling what is what (exp. Cabinets, table, couch)

Why do a crime scene sketch?

• Helps create a mental picture that a picture might not.

• Gives exact measurements of the scene.• Helps give a permanent record of scene.• Helps assist people.– Interview and interrogation tactics.– present the case in court.

Butter knife

• Bloody knife taken from top of cabinets in kitchen

• Important to the case: weapon used for stabbing and covered in blood

• Blood on the butter knife were from Kevin Tuppert

• Fingerprints on the knife were from Kevin Tupper, Shannon Hammons and Heather Schoenwolf

Marlboro 100’s

• Taken from the floor of the kitchen• Important to the case: fingerprints letting us

know who was in the apartment• Kevin Tupper’s fingerprints on the box

Cigarette

• Cigarette found on the kitchen floor• Important to the case: fingerprints letting us

know who was at the apartment• Shannon and Heather’s fingerprints on the

cigarette.

Bloody Tissue

• Bloody tissue found on the couch• Important to the case: find out who’s blood is

on the tissue/couch• Kevin Tupper’s blood on the tissue

Bloody Footprint

• Bloody footprint in doorway• Important to case: find out imprint of boots

and who was in the apartment• Kevin Tupper’s blood found on footprint

• Important to the case: evidence to see who was at the apartment/leaving the apartment
