A QR Code is a type of barcode that mobile devices can scan. Once scanned, a QR code automatically performs an action, such as opening up a website.

You can cross stitch your own QR code!

Attach one to your handmade item, leading to your blog post that tells how you made it. Attach one to your media case, leading a event attendee to your Twitter page.

Materials• Computer with internet access• Printer and printer paper• Pencil and ruler• Aida cross stitch fabric, 14 count• Fine tip marker• Embroidery needle• Black embroidery thread• Small scissors

Instructions

Note: Line your finished QR code with interfacing or felt, if attaching to a curved surface. The QR code should be as flat as possible in order to scan effectively.

Finished Size: 2 1/4-inch x 2 1/4-inch

1. Go to www.goo.gl2. Enter the URL destination

and click Shorten URL.3. Click Details, hover over the

QR code, right-click, Save Image As, and save locally.

4. Open the saved image using image editing software.

• Adjust the image size to 500px by 500px.

• Sharpen the image, if fuzzy.

5. Print at 100% scale. Each black square represents a cross-stitched X.

6. Draw gridlines using a pencil and ruler.

7. Mark the Aida fabric with a fine tip marker, placing a dot on each square that is to be covered with an X. BE PRECISE. Any mistake may affect the QR code’s functionality.

8. Cross stitch over each dot, using black embroidery thread.
