Dear Music Lovers!
Welcome to our musical extravaganza “Hairpsray” brought
to you tonight by a talented cast of students from CTK.
In order to really enter into the spirit of tonight’s show, make
sure you have your party bag ready, available from our
sellers for £1.
Refreshments and popcorn will be sold during the interval
after which we will announce the winner of the lucky
programme who will receive a very special
Hairspray Goodie Bag
which we guarantee will make the winner the envy of their
friends.
All that remains is for us to wish you a most pleasant evening
as you are transported to 1962.
The Cast
Jack Warriner
(Edna Turnblad)
Jack played the baddie in the panto last
year and now he plays a woman. Not
sure what the link is there. However, he
will, no doubt look very fetching in a
frock. Jack is taking a gap year next
year before going to university. He
hopes to travel to Venezuela to run a
few workshops on acting. He will also be giving a few fashion
tips on how to make the most of wearing glasses. Good luck
Jack.
Megan Leask-Walters
(Amber von Tussle)
Here she is again, the girl who has
been in every school production
since year 7. We just can’t get rid of
her. Megan specialises in playing
characters with a big voice and big
hair—no acting required. Megan is
studying for A levels in Mandarin, Music and Mechanical
Engineering. In her spare time she likes listening to radio 4
and is a particular fan of the shipping forecast. Malin, Dogger,
Hebrides...
Grace Hodgett-Young
(Little Inez)
Grace is a newcomer to school shows
and is very excited making her
debut as Little Inez. Like her name,
she shows grace in everything she
does, whether it is washing up, taking
the dog for a walk or knitting
jumpers. Grace numbers Japanese embroidery as one of her
hobbies and at the moment she is making a rather attractive
lampshade for her bedroom.
Chloe Barratt
(Tracy Turnblad)
Chloe is a lovely girl with a lovely
voice. She wants everyone to know
that she is NOT padded up for
playing this part, and her hair is her
own. Chloe is heiress to the famous
shoe shop chain, and will be modelling some of the styles
sold in the shop during the interval. Chloe’s hobbies include
orienteering, playing with her dolls and Judo.
Jacob Seelochan
(Link Larkin)
As well as working hard and preparing
for his final GCSE examinations, Jacob
is honing his skills at the Nottingham
Playhouse and Television Workshop,
aiming to keep his acting going into
the far future. After performing in last
year’s show, as the humble, yet
'flamboyant' Ryan Evans, (the peak of his career), Jacob
aspires to move on to Bilborough College next year to study
the arts.
Sam Jones
(Corny Collins)
Sam “the voice” Jones as we call him,
is, as the name suggests a pretty
good singer. And so he should be as
he is related to Tom Jones, that great
Welsh tenor. Sam is a lovely lad, if a
little gullible. When told that the
word had been removed from the dictionary, he actually tried
to look it up. That’s what working in the library does to you.
His hobbies include making marmalade and taking old ladies
across the road even if they don’t want to.
Bria Anderson
(Motormouth Maybelle)
The trouble with playing a
motormouth is that everyone
actually thinks you are one. This is
not the case with Bria. In her
private life she is quite shy and
reluctant to chat to people,
preferring to immerse herself in a really good book. At the
moment she is reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and
hopes to move on to classics such as “War and Peace”.
Glen Pambilipe
(Seaweed Stubbs)
Glen is new to school shows. No
idea why, as he is incredibly
talented and is sure to be a big hit
with everyone in this show. Glen is
delighted to be cast as someone
called Seaweed because he really does love the seaside,
especially the golden sands of Skeggy. In fact, Glen spends
much of his summer holiday at Skeggy running his own little
beachside kiosk called Glen’s Goodies where you can buy
tasteful souvenirs.
Rio Henley
(Velma von Tussle)
At first Rio was apprehensive about
playing such a thoroughly nasty
character, so she looked to her Mum for
inspiration!
More used to the sporting arena than
the theatre she brings energy to this,
her first major role following the
success of her latest performance of the ghost in the
pantomime. No sheet to hide under this time!
James Akers
(Wilbur Turnblad)
James is no stranger to the stage at
CTK. As soon as he walks onto the
stage, you will find yourself
wondering, “Where have I seen him
before?” On the stage at CTK of
course! Easily recognised as he brings his own unique
interpretation to whatever role he plays and plays it safe by
doing it exactly as he has played any other role. Good on yer
James! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. James is keen on sport and
is an avid fan of Curling, also known as kettles on ice. He
hopes to perfect his own version of the game, which has the
provisional title, ”Ironing on Ice.”
Charlie-Dawn Sadler
(Penny Pingleton)
Charlie really fought for this part in
Hairspray, and knocked a couple of
others out cold during the
auditions. Last seen playing King
Maurice in the panto she has let the
power go to her head and insists on
being addressed as Your Majesty. Charlie’s favourite TV
programme is “The Queen’s Christmas Message to the
Commonwealth” and her favourite animal is a Corgi.
Elise Goetzee
(Prudy Pingleton)
Elise is delighted to be starring in
her first major role since she played
the giraffe in the Nativity Play at her
primary school. Elise is known for
her impersonations of various animals, her tortoise noises
being particularly realistic. Elise perfected this skill while
holidaying in the Galapagos last year. Her favourite subject is
Biology and her favourite publication is,
“The Natural History of the Giant Tortoise.” One day, Elise
hopes to meet Sir David Attenborough.
