Issue:
Shots terminating along the zigzagof the rows tends to precondition theun-blasted area, resulting in oversize.
If the un-blasted area has been drilledout, the adjacent holds have atendency to suffer from dislocation. In the event the un-blasted area hasnot been drilled drilling is difficult.
Remedy:(We now)Terminate shots alongechelons.

Terminate along echelonsUniform Faces (unlike Fig 1.)
In addition bring into thedesign proposal/checking Blast Length to Pit WidthRatioBlast Length should be no
less than 3 times the width. Our blasts are commonly 70mts wide therefore ourminimum length should be210 mts. This rule is basedon Burden Relief & preventing

Drills
5degrees
Angle Drilling:Vertical holes are not drilledvertical they are drilled at 5degrees from vertical. Theorientation of this angle is dictatedby the driller.
This would mean the toe of a 45metre blast hole would be 3.9 mtsfrom design location, etc..
Drill monitoring systems installedbut not in use on two rigs.
Action Plan:Test units (are they working)Train (2) operators (at first)Engage HPGPSCollect data with focus on rockrecognition
