Greetings Fellow Members,

Between COVID changes and the 2021 Board Elections, November proved to be another eventful month at the Club. Regarding COVID and its impact on the club, here is the latest information. As you are probably aware, the County of San Diego returned to the “Purple Tier” which imposed tighter restrictions on several businesses. Regarding us specifically, we have decided to continue allowing limited indoor activity, due to the daylight savings darkness and cold weather approaching. We believe our specific license allows us to legally due so. That said we are imposing the following guidelines for ALL members to follow: All individuals inside the bar area MUST HAVE AN INSIDE SEAT to be able to order from the bar. All others should continue to order from the patio window. We are also strongly enforcing that a mask MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES when not seated, even if just walking through lounge area to leave the club or use the rest rooms. We have also cancelled all live entertainment until further notice, and we ask that each member bring a maximum of one guest per member when visiting the club. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact me directly.

On a more positive note, November also brought us another successful and competitive Board Election. My sincerest CONGRATULATIONS go out to our NEW COMMODORE, Mr. Steele Young, and all the new 2021 Officers and Board Members. I am completely confident that Steele will do a fantastic job taking over the gavel, and I am looking forward to transitioning with him over the next several weeks, and working with his as Past Commodore for the 2021 Board Year!!!

Regarding related upcoming events, we will be having our Joint Board Meeting on Tuesday, December 15th. The Installation Dinner is on Saturday, January 9, 2021. The“Save the Date” for the Installation Dinner is included in Scuttlebutt. Please mark your calendars for both events that you will not want to miss!!!

See you all at the Club! Kevin Witherell, Commodore

Let us continue to support them which is so necessary for the success of the Business and our Club. For the Galley, we are always looking at the hours and the menu items, but know that any change will depend on the demand. If you do not use it, you may lose it. I will always be there to receive your comments and recommendations.

HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE FOR THE STOREFRONT

A Shelter for Homeless Teenagers By Maria Potter-Wood

Once again, this year, I will be collecting personal care items for homeless teenagers at the Storefront. This will be our 7th year! This Holiday gift drive has been very successful because of your support.

The Shelter houses 20 students, 10 females and 10 males, each month. The Shelter's December goal is to either reunite students with their parents and/or immediate family members or place them in foster homes for the Holidays. I will be collecting personal care items (i.e. toothbrushes, dental floss, toothpaste deodorant, combs, hair brushes, shampoo, hair conditioner, mouth wash, body lotion, socks, scarfs, etc.) to provide each HOMELESS student with a backpack, filled with personal care items on December 17 (My daughter, Davina Potter, a non-member donated the 20 backpacks.) All items will be distributed among 20 backpacks, 10 for each gender. Please place your gift/donation in box in the bar area, it is labeled STOREFRONT GIFTS. If you would like to donate a Visa gift card or cash, please give it to one of the bartenders to hold for Maria. The VISA cards are given to the administrator and doles them out, to the students, at her discretion. The cash donations are used to buy needed items at the 99-cent store, all left over cash is also given to the administrator. The Club receives an itemized receipt with the value of all donations, to be used for income tax purposes.

If you have questions/concerns, please feel free to call me.

My daughter and I will deliver all 20 backpacks to the Storefront Shelter administration office on December 17. Your support is appreciated. If you would like to learn more about the Storefront Shelter for homeless teenagers, please go to: sdyouthservices.org. If you would like to volunteer to help with the packing of the backpacks or with delivery, on December 17, please call me. Thank you all, Maria (619) 977-3448
