The site is located in the parking lot next to the Waite Campus. The design will transform the parking area into a communication and leisure place for staffs and students, activating the edge of campus. The project has evolved from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, reactivating the monotonous space by reshaping the topography.

Flock is a clear filed phenomenon. This part is mainly to explore the relationship between groups and individuals.

Mitchel Waldrop described an experiment of simulating the flocking of birds in the “Com-plexity”: the single boid through reacting to other boids in its neighbourhood birds to form a flock. This result shows that the form of flocks is the results of localized behaviour pat-terns ’iteration. Besides, according to the cu-mulative effect, if the individual boid changes, the overall form will also change. Therefore, the individual plays the most significant role in the formation of the flock.

Stan Allen believes that interval, repetition, and seriality are key concepts. The simulation experiment of stimulating the flocking of birds proves Stan Allen’s view and iteration is an important element to form a flock.

Diagram Development

The texture of barks record the growth memories of the trees. Extracting tex-tures from different barks and following the design principles of ‘Repeate and Seriality’ to form the plan diagram.
