Requirements for an Instruction Permit

II. With whom may your drive with your permit?A. Instructors, parents, guardians, or person over

21 approved by your parents. The adult must have one year driving experience and sit beside you.

Cooperative Driver Testing Program A. Grades: Earn a combined A or B in the

classroom and BTW (Behind the Wheel)

B. Road test: given by your instructor

C. Cooperative Driver Testing Certificate 1. Received upon successful completion 2. Must be signed by instructor & parent

D. Spot check dates: Students whose birthdays fall on certain dates will be

required to pass a road test at a state facility.

License ClassificationsA. Class D: The basic license to operate a car

B. CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) for Class A, B, C Vehicles. Includes trucks and buses. You must have a license for 3 years, written and driving test.

C. Motorcycles: A. Class L: <150 ccB. Class M: Any motorcycle. Must be 18 or take approved

motorcycle class.

*Note: You may not drive a vehicle even if it is rented or borrowed, unless you have proper license classification. (ie. Renting a truck to move furniture)
