E.E CUMMINGS’S STYLE

Non-traditional, experimental

Spare and precise (uses few key words)

Uses some invented words (combining two common words into a new

synthesis

Uses words as “if” “am” “because” as nouns, assigning his own meanings

to words (meaning > correct grammar)

Often used the pronoun “i” in the lower case, to show that self is not

always as important as it seems

Used capital words when he wanted to emphasize them ex) Humanity i

love you
