PREFACE
The Statistics Act (Employment Survey Order as Amended) 1970 requires that the
Government Statistician prepares a report and summary of the findings of the
Employment Survey to be laid before the Gibraltar Parliament.
In October 2010, all known employers were sent Employment Survey questionnaires
in respect of their employees. Three reminders were sent to late respondents with
the survey closing in February 2011. The response rate was almost 100%
with only 81 employers out of the 2,010 who had been sent the survey form failing to
complete and return the questionnaire or register a nil return.
I must express my thanks to all employers for their continued co-operation in the
conduct of this survey.

* Employee jobs in the Public Sector include non-civil servant posts in Government
Departments and direct employment by Government authorities, agencies and
wholly-owned companies.
** This nationality split presents problems of accuracy. Some employers classify all their
British employees, including Gibraltarians, under the UK British category and since no
personal details are provided it is not possible to differentiate between the two categories.
This would result in an understatement of the Gibraltarians in employment.
