About EARL

• EANM Research Ltd.

• Founded in 2006 as a 100% subsidiary of the EANM• to improve nuclear medicine and its practice • to advance scientific initiatives as well as clinical research projects

• EARL focuses on accreditation, standardization and image quality assurance• EARL is NOT involved in project managements for EU‐funded calls or multi‐center clinical trials

EARL Activities: FDG PET/CT Accreditation

EARL initiated this accreditation programme in order to support imaging sites, which performFDG‐PET/CT oncology examinations, in meeting the requirements indicated in the EANMimaging guideline

• aims at providing a minimum standard for the acquisition and interpretation of PET andPET/CT scans with [18F]‐fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)

• goal is to enhance the quality standard of PET/CT investigations for both daily use and formulticentre studies

• PET/CT accreditation ensures similar performance of PET/CT systems within a multicentresetting by harmonising acquisition and processing of PET/CT scans

• Accredited PET/CT centres of excellence can compare, exchange and combine FDG‐PET/CTfindings, including SUV values, since data are collected and processed in a standardisedmanner

• Independent quality control/assurance by a fully authorised body

• Comparable PET/CT scanner performance and interpretation of PET/CT scans across multiple sites through harmonisation of the image acquisition protocols

• Accurate and reproducible quantitative tracer uptake assessment enabled through standardisation of methodology and imaging equipment

• Essential quality assurance in daily clinical practice as well as high eligibility as a participant in multicentre trials

• Accredited centres of excellence strengthen their status via publication on the EARL website, a signet sticker and an accreditation certificate
