Technology Event Case study.

Online Version

Event Tech Circus used six bits of technology to

manage the event management process including two of our

startups.

We used the single event EventManagerBlog WordPress Theme. The theme would later win an “Honourable Mention” from Event Managers at the

Circus. It was so flexible! William noted that it look less than 3 hours from purchasing the website to having it live!

Developing a bit of event technology that is as useful as it is ease to use it surely the goal of

every event tech company!

William never planned on using etouches. However as he was familiar with a part of the system (surveys) he ended up

using this rather than investigating another system.

He thought this was an interesting point for Startups.

Despite William loving this system both Julius and Derrick didn’t like it. William highlighted

this as an example when an organsier has to be be flexible and

support the event stakeholders.

Conferize - the eventual winner of “EventTechCircus

Amsterdam Event Tech Startup 2013” - was used to

promote the event & to engage an audience. Conferize attracted 150 on line followers

& has given Gallus Events a great platform to turn these online attendees into paying

physical participants.

All that we need at the moment to keep on top of our Social Media and

for free! Laura at WYTSA included this in her top tech as well.

William highlighted how difficult it was for most

organisers to stay on top of event technology. They have so many other things to do and using the technology to

support their events and their attendees is actually only a

small part of an organisers job.

William really felt that for most event technology the more you put into it the more you were likely to get out of it.

Organsiers can’t get too hung up about using the same

technology for each event. All events are different and what

works well for a small conference may not work for a large one. Organsiers have to

tailor the technology to support the event.

Avoid vanity technology purchases! Really try to look at

technology through your attendees eyes: are you adding VALUE to their

experience? Also consider your other stakeholders when

considering using technology.

William wanted to highlight that hybrid and streaming has a vital role to play in a lot of

events. However adding those elements adds a whole new

level of technological awareness and understanding

by event organisers.

We used six of our startups during our event. After the event we will use Peecho to allow attendees to download a special issue of Event Manager Blog. As part of the unique aspect of Event Tech Circus we strive to integrate EVERY

event startup’s technology into our event.

There were three supporting technologies that we couldn’t do without!

We used RealLifeConnect for our badges, speakerscore to rate our speakers, meethub for our 1-2-1 meetings, twoppy and showmappr as the event apps

and preseria (who would also win an “Honourable Mention”) to handle all our presentations.
