Bell-Ringer # 1 8/17 (A) and 8/18 (B)Bowling Vocab• Lane - your assigned play area where your pins are set up,

• Gutter - the “out of bounds” area where your bowling ball will fall in to if you throw too far to the right or left. If you ball goes in to the gutter you have no chance to hit any pins and score points

• Bumpers - pads (often inflatable) that can be put in to the gutters, they allow the bowling balls to bounce off rather than going in to the gutter to ensure the play can earn points

• Foul - when any part of your body crosses the foul line, you do not get credit for that throw

• Pins – the objects at the end of the lane that you are attempting to knock down the ten pins
