FARMINGTON AREA COMMUNITY GARDEN OPEN HOUSE

Meadowview Elementary School - August 6, 2011

The Farmington Area Community Garden held an Open House to showcase the facility and attract new gardeners.

The garden is a true community partnership project.

These gardeners were on hand working on their gardens and providing information to visitors.

A steady stream of visitors got an up-close look.

Gardeners explained what is growing in their plots

Refreshments and recipes were on hand for visitors. Freshly picked produce was provided to make the recipes at home.

Garden plots are surrounded on all sides by a mulch border and protective fencing is also provided.

A total of 20 plots (6 x 20 feet) are located in the garden.

Gardeners can plant what they want!

One plot location is a cooperative garden with produce provided to the Farmington Food Shelf which is located at

the Instructional Services Center.

It’s not all about vegetables!

A mulch pile and tool shed are located next to the garden. The facility was constructed by as an Eagle Scout project.

Water is available from a central location.

The garden is supported by significant volunteer efforts and multiple grants and serves as a valuable educational and community resource

to the entire Farmington area.
