Current situation of SWM in Bangladesh

• Rapid Urbanization and Population Growth

• Solid waste amount rapid increase1,400t/day in 2004 to 6,000t/day in 2019

• Public consciousness including Media toward waste issues increases.

• Current Landfill Site is nearly full and be filled in 1to2 years.

• Solid waste issues are becoming serious in other cities in line with urbanization.

For Clean Bangladesh, support from planning to collection and public awareness.

About 6,000t/day(Dhaka) MSW collection improvement, landfill management and waste reduction.

Urbanization in the country deteriorates the situation.

Locates in west of North Dhaka City Corporation, started operation in 2011. Collects about 3500t/day.Ex. Tokyo metropolitan, 23 wards, sends about 1300 t/day to landfill site after incineration. To fully utilize the landfill site, JICA make technical advices to DNCC.
