What’s in a Name?

Gâc—Fruit from Heaven Momordica cochinchinensis

In Southern Asia, the gâc vine is often seen growing on lattices at the entrances of rural homes.

Among its many uses, gâc is used to prepare a special rice dish known as Xoi Gâc or “Red Rice”, traditionally served at celebrations.
