Kristie Rauter, Community Health Improvement Planner from the Wood County Health Department, presented on Get Active Wood County, an initiative aimed at obesity prevention at the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation's Annual Gathering event. She spoke about the collaboration between the Health Department, local businesses, schools and non-profit organizations to create a healthier Wood County.

At least 30 minutes of daily P.A., reducing screen time standards, and provide healthy snacks (~500 students)

• South Wood County YMCA, Marshfield Area YMCA, and Boys and Girls Club passed policies

• YouthNet includes supportive language in parent handbook

Afterschool Program Providers

Wellness Policies (Nutrition and Physical Activity) and Garden Implementation (~1,600 children)

• 21/22 sites have new/enhanced nutrition policies

• 16/22 sites new/enhanced physical activity policies

• 28 sites have gardens

Childcare Centers

Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Pittsville, Auburndale, Nekoosa, Port Edwards (~12,500 students)

• 3/6 districts have passed policy—3/6 are in progress

(Auburndale, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield)• 6/6 districts participating in farm to school (15,000 lbs. produce)• 6/6 districts implemented gardens/greenhouses/orchards• 5/6 districts making changes to competitive food environment• 6/6 districts with nutrition and P.A. based afterschool programming

•The Double Value program in October brought a 61% increase in participation and 71% more dollars to local market vendors
